I love that each character is a different narrator. They all do a spectacular job of bringing the characters to life.

The plot was heavy, and dark. But that was to be expected after the last two. Was I screaming at the characters to make better choices, knowing they wouldn’t end up in the best spots because of it? Oh absolutely. And for that reason I loved the book. I cried, I was occasionally happy, I reflected on the world. Overall, another great read and ending to this series.

I can't say I didn't enjoy it, and I think it makes some interesting psychological/philosophical points, but it just fails to come to a satisfying conclusion with which to underline them in a meaningful way.

Edit: in other people's comments I've noticed the tendency to decry Blake's tendency for moral, philosophical, or political messaging in the text, especially in very long descriptions. I didn't actually mind that. I rather enjoy it. What I did mind was that the story, the plot, didn't reinforce it, underline it, the way that I would have liked. Show don't tell, yknow? I guess I can say it felt realistic, giving these 20-somethings infinite power and it all kinda imploding. It just didn't feel satisfying, in the end.

A friend who hasn't read this book yet but has read the first two commented to me that they think probably Blake was rushed to get the second and third out after the success of the first. I'd believe that. It feels like there's a lot of potential here, and some of it shines through, but it's not all realized in the way I'd like.

Edit 2: HOWEVER I'd like to note that the performances by actors for the audio book were exceptional, as always. I was so impressed.

I loved the characters in the first two books but this one seemed like they changed and they didn’t have much loyalty for their partners which unnerved me. I wasn’t able to finish it as it got quite repetitive and I was just waiting for it to be over with only a few hours left. I think it was a great idea but the plot carried on way too long.

Not a age turner

The narrators were excellent but the story was overall mediocre. The messy internal ramblings of the characters failed to hold my attention and seemed repetitive and unnecessary. By the last 4 hours of the book I was just ready for it to end. The ending was rushed in some ways but dragged out in others.
