À propos de cet audio

Ten years ago, I broke the heart of the girl I loved, and she ran from me, never giving me a chance to explain, leaving me devastated.

Now Lottie is back and working in my club. Which gives me the chance to put things right. I know she's hiding a secret, but I can't walk away. When she enters an auction to sell her body, I refuse to let another man touch what is mine.

I offer her a way out, a marriage of convenience that will benefit us both. The contract says we'll stay married for a year. But she was mine then, she's mine now, and I'm never letting her go again.

When I was young, Lincoln was the hero in my story. The boy who promised me forever. Until the day I found out it was all a lie. Now, ten years later, he's the villain who holds my future in his hands.

Drowning in debt and determined to protect the one person that means the world to me, I agree to auction off the one thing I have left to sell: my virginity.

With no place to hide, I face the man who still makes my pulse quicken. But I have demands of my own. I'll give him my body for a year, but he'll never have my heart again. And he can never find out the truth of what happened ten years ago.

Contains mature themes.

DNF. Narration and casting are so important for an audiobook. The male narrator sounds like a geeky Paul Giamatti… which might have worked if the MMC was an effeminate used car salesman, but he’s not so this was tragic casting. I feel a bit bad for saying this, because I’m pretty sure I would have enjoyed the book if it wasn’t for the narrator. The female narrator did a great job tho.

Unfortunate choice for male narrator.

📚EBOOK📚 & 🎧AUDIO 🎧

I stumbled on this one for free on Audible and since L. Knight was a new-to-me author, I figured why not—and honestly, I’m glad I gave it a shot. The Auction delivers a mix of second chance romance, grumpy billionaire energy, marriage of convenience, and just enough angst to keep things interesting.

Lottie (Violet) is doing everything she can to survive and take care of her younger brother, who has type 1 diabetes, after their mom’s passing. When medical bills pile up, she ends up working at Club Ruin—without realizing it’s owned by the one man she never expected to see again: Linc, her first love who shattered her heart ten years ago. Their reunion? Tense, messy, and filled with chemistry that practically jumps off the page. The whole setup—with the club’s hidden third floor, the auction, and the forced proximity—adds a darker, intriguing edge to the story.

I really enjoyed the banter and underlying tension between Lottie and Linc. He’s your classic hurt, resentful, controlling billionaire, but there’s a vulnerability there that slowly peeks through. The mystery surrounding why Lottie and her mom left all those years ago kept me hooked, and I’ll admit… I got a little weepy 🥺. The drama, secrets, and emotional reveals definitely paid off.

The duet narration by Elle Sonali & Christopher Anthony elevated the experience for me—it made the emotions hit harder and helped me stay fully immersed.
That said, while I was pulled into the story, some elements felt a bit over-the-top or convenient, and I didn’t fully feel the emotional depth in certain moments as much as I wanted to. Still, it was entertaining, angsty, and had enough spice and tension to keep me listening.

I listened to this long enough to write this review. The male voice…. I THOUGHT IT WAS A JOKE . My dude, I hate to be that person but maybe this isn’t the gig for you. The other review was spot on. It was unlistenable
