Description

The international best-selling series with more than five million copies sold in the US alone!

Still far from their homeland after escaping slavery in the icebound land of Skandia, Will and Evanlyn's plans to return to Araluen are spoiled when Evanlyn is taken captive by a Temujai warrior. Though still weakened by the warmweed's toxic effects, Will employs his Ranger training to locate his friend, but an enemy scouting party has him fatally outnumbered.

Will is certain death is close at hand, until Halt and Horace make a daring, last-minute rescue. The reunion is cut short, however, when Halt makes a horrifying discovery: Skandia's borders have been breached by the entire Temujai army. And Araluen is next in their sights.

If two kingdoms are to be saved, an unlikely union must be made. Will it hold long enough to vanquish a ruthless new enemy? Or will past tensions spell doom for all?

The battles and drama are nonstop in audiobook four of this hugely popular epic.

Perfect for fans of J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings, T.H. White’s The Sword in the Stone, Christopher Paolini’s Eragon series, and George R. R. Martin’s Game of Thrones/a Song of Ice and Fire series.

such a pleasant, clever story

The story is both simple and complex. The characters more in depth than possibly all of TV, and the combat very good. The knowledge of midieval warfare is broken down enough to be interesting to a laymen like myself but realistic enough to be immersive.

What a Battle!

This is probably the best battle scene that I have ever read, even though this genre is classified as an older teen.

Flanagan’s description of the Mongol and Viking types of warfare is spot on. You feel as though you are on the battlefield, watching it take place.

Incredibly well done.

Simply Wonderful!

I have throughly enjoyed this series, but this is my favorite book by far. Such depth in the character development over series and what a great job introducing new lovable and hated characters! I wish I had these as a child.

Amazing adventure

I've been reading the Rangers Apprentice book series since my freshman year in high school, and even though I slowly made my way trough the first three books, I always connected with the protagonist Will, being a distant and short teenager myself. And now a couple of years later I finally pick back up this series with the fourth book and listened to it in a matter of days. I regret not returning to this adventure sooner, for it was an amazing journey and the best posible conclusion to the cliffhanger left on the third book that loomed over me for these past few years. I was left with a heart ache in the end though, and I eagerly look forward to continue reading the journeys of Will, the Rangers Apprentice.

A good read with a good ending. <br />

A great conclusion from the previous book. The way Halt resolves the many thorny issues that keep coming up, is masterful.
