Description
THE PERFECT FAMILY
Sheila O'Rourke has always known her husband isn't perfect. Who is? But things have been better since they moved to Seattle to make a fresh start. So much so that when 16-year-old Eden turns up, claiming to be Dylan's child by another woman, Sheila tries to be welcoming.
CAN BECOME
At first, Sheila feels sympathy for the girl. Eden's mother recently fell to her death in an incident with unsettling parallels to Sheila's past. Still, Eden is a difficult house guest, sowing discord among the family. Sheila has already been on edge for weeks, receiving anonymous texts, noticing odd noises coming from the house next door. And that's just the start.
A PERFECT NIGHTMARE
Sheila wants to trust Dylan. She wants to feel safe in her own home. But no one can hurt you more easily than the ones closest to you...the ones you keep believing until it's too late....

They all need counselling.
The editor could have cut at least 3 hours of the audiobook without missing much. I found myself drifting in and out of the story. Although I usually like Ann Marie Lee's narration, her stylings in this book are particularly annoying. Her voice begins soft but strong and then fades out to nearly inaudible by the end of every sentence. But when you turn up your audio to hear all the words, the louder bits burst your eardrums. That is not a fault of the narrator, it is a production issue.
The story about a cheating husband and a woman who's obsessed enough to kill a bunch of women so she can have that loser all to herself is an outdated cliche. It's beyond reason what self-respecting woman would want him so much that she will kill women whom she doesn't even know, and who are also his victims, so she can have him. Why kill them, and not her ex-husband, is also irrational. Every one of these pathetic characters need counselling, most especially his children.
