Histoire
On the night of the school prom, a young teacher is found dead in the Thames in a drug-related accident. It seems - at first - to be another sign that Cherringham High is spiralling out of control. The new head however is convinced that the teacher's death is suspicious and quietly calls in Sarah Edwards. With her one-time detective partner, Jack Brennan, back in America, Sarah is at first reluctant to take on the case. But when she does get involved, it soon becomes clear that the tragic accident might really be a case of murder - and even Sarah herself could be in danger.

Entertaining British Mystery
Jenny is an interesting and likeable cook cum amateur sleuth. While it has the usual trope of murder in a great English manor house, it is a character driven story - the kind I like best. My only criticism is I thought the explanation at the end of how the murder was actually achieved was rather weak. The narration of the book was excellent; just the perfect British acting voice for this story.

VERY easy to guess the murderer and fat shaming
So this mess you could see a mile away. You know who it was 1/4 into it. Also, this author kept talking about how fat the main character was. I mean won’t shut up about it. Having to choice a steady chair for her size... and all of that. Really? According to the author she’s a size 18. I’m a size 16 and I don’t break any damn chairs. C’mon. This author needs to about the sh*te of all plot not the size or the character.

Too Many Points of View
This book was not bad, but I didn't think it was that good either.... the main issue I had with it was that it switched POV from one sentence to the next. Not one scene to the next, or one chapter to the next. You were literally in Person A's head for their thought/sentence, and then in Person B's head for their thoughts/sentence, and sometimes Person C would chime in, too. Too many POV's that didn't contribute to the story. I just didn't care for that type of storytelling. Story on the whole was ok, a bit slow at times. I did not see "whodunnit" early on as others say they did (and I read a lot of mysteries). On the whole the book was a bit "meh" for me.

Easy
Classic English murder mystery. Lots of suspects, evidence and theories. Wasn't fooled, figured out the murderer from an old Perry Mason episode. Putting the pieces together from there figured out motive, a bit more tricky but obvious. Love Faith Martin books, well written and always a challenge.
