C.S. Feldman offers a fairly generic haunted/cursed house tale: a young woman inherits a manor with a sketchy past and experiences creepy events during her stay at what was once her frightening childhood home. The book isn't bad.. but neither did it impress. Feldman writes capably well with realistic - albeit typecast - characters.. but with plodding pacing. I repeatedly wanted to shout like a Monty Python Viking: "Get On With It!"

As to presentation: Reader Emily Durante is above-average (capturing the snarky/bitchy tone of stepsister 'Alexis' perfectly, for example) and elevates the book nicely. Tantor Audio Inc. did very well on its casting choice.

In toto, 'The Bloodline' merits 5 stars out of 10. It was an enjoyable - if formulaic - tale for free.. but not worth your Credit given your other options when it leaves the "included with your subscription" menu.

I enjoyed this book! Started a bit slow, but picked up about 5 chapters in. Surprising story - couldn’t have guessed the ending. Appreciate the author didn’t cop out and took every twist that wasn’t even imagined.
