Really entertaining book
It was a really great listen and I enjoyed the narrator (despite some accent slips here and there - it's a challenging job - I get it). The story was really sweet and with wonderfully dramatic times. I found it a bit rushed at time and didn't always build up enough before peaking, but the character development was so good that I still loved it!!

The right book at the right time
This book was exactly what I needed. If you are having a bad day or suffering from anxiety (like I am) this book completely soothed me. It was warm and cozy and can be listened to on a bright summer day or a cold winters night. The narration was lovely, not overly done... just perfect for the book. I absolutely loved it... it really helped calm me down.

Nina's intense and passionate resolve to push forward.
I enjoyed how the author flushes out the awkward personalities of the protagonist and other leading characters and of course the description of northern Scotland.

Perfect for book lovers
Jenny Colgan is one of those authors that I have been meaning to read for ages. So, I finally decided to check out 'The Bookshop on the Corner" from my local library's overdrive collection. Personally, I thought that idea of a young and almost out of work woman picking up her life to run a mobile bookshop in a village in Scotland sounded like an idyllic story for a bit of nighttime listening. I wasn't wrong.
First off, the novel’s setting is perfect. The author’s description of village life in Scotland felt incredibly cosy. By the end of the novel, I wanted to pack up my kindle and head for Kirrinfief.
As for the characters, I was instantly drawn into the village life and felt myself becoming attached to the various people that Nina encountered in the community (Including the seemingly grumpy, Lennox).
If I had to pick a caveat, it would be that the plot was fairly predictable. Nevertheless, I found myself so wrapped up in the sweetness of the book that the predictability didn’t matter too much to me. If I had to pick a caveat, it would be that the plot was somewhat predictable. Nevertheless, I was so engaged in the sweetness of the book, that the predictability wasn't much of an issue for me.
Overall, I loved this book and would recommend it to others who are looking for a gentle book to read. I can't wait to read more from Jenny Colgan.

Pretty Good, but not great
I was expecting to be charmed, and to be able to relax to this book. That is sort of happening. Parts of the book are lovely, but the story is dragging on and on, and it's spoiled for me a bit by the wimpy, whiny main character, Nina. She has ambition and drive enough to turn her life around when she is laid off from her librarian job in Birmingham by buying a big old white van to sell books from, but still she rather annoyed me when it came to dealing with the men in her own happily-ever-after story. But perhaps I was affected by the annoying voice the narrator gave her. The narrator is a talented reader, who can give a variety of accents and tones to the characters, but some of the vocal choices were hard to hear. I like the concept of this book, but it seems a bit shallow.

Not a fan oh the character development
I was disappointed as I believe I could have enjoyed this boo with a personal investment in the characters…but I just didn’t care the way I wanted to.
