Great!!
This book was great! It's got me hooked, can't wait to start book 2. I usually listen to my stories while I drive, but with this book I kpwt listening even when I was home and not driving.

My sister recommended this author, since she’s from our hometown. I loved this book and currently on Book 2! I was hooked right from the beginning! I loved it!

All the tropes… done well!
You’ve got enemies to lovers (albeit a little insta-love), marriage of convenience, secrets, and a deadly spy. I ate up every bit of it.
I wouldn’t say there was a ton of character development, we pretty much understood everyone’s character early on, but the story was well paced and I felt a sense of anticipation for everything that was to come, even if it was somewhat predictable. I didn’t feel any parts dragged, nor did I feel there were any “filler” chapters - every element added to the story and helped build the picture. If I had any criticism it would be that the profanity felt a little misplaced in the world and scene built. And perhaps the evolution of Aren and Lara’s relationship was a little rushed.
Not a lot of spice, which I am more than OK with because I’m more interested in what’s to come in Lara’s journey - what we know about her ensures an epic tale ahead (or so I hope!). I will say that given Lara’s sheltered upbringing, I was surprised that there was no pretense about their first sexual experiences. I would’ve expected a little more hesitancy on her part.
Aren is a little… bland, but let’s face it- we’re here for the heroine.
Started the second book almost immediately after finishing book 1.

Overhyped
I was recommended this book based on the fact that it was an enemies-to-lovers book with some good spice: oh man was I lead astray. Enemies-to-lovers .... yes. Spice? Zero. Maybe a page in the whole book. I really hoped to like this book more, but I just couldn't. I found the characters a bit flat, a bit irritating at points. Overall, it was meh. I've definitely read worse. I just found myself having next to no interest once the end of the book came. Can't say I'll be finishing the series

The writer is clearly gifted. I was captivated from beginning to end (part 1) and I was desperate for part 2 and it did not disappoint. I was overwhelmed with emotions - from excitement, to anger, frustration, hope and satisfaction. I definitely recommend.

On the edge of my seat the whole time!
I am tempted to take a break between this and book 2, I'm so on edge from the anxiety of wanting to get to the next chapter. GREAT story and you fall in love with the characters.

Super captivating world, plot, and characters. The perfect amount of romance for the plot, and great performances by the narrators !
