Great dialogue

Reminds me of dressing room talk. Every sport and team has their slang. I never played baseball, but i loved how ray porter places you in the room with 5 ball players ripping on each other.

Great inside look at the game

My favourite thing about this book is that it isn't written by a ball player who went on to have a glorious career. That's no slight on Dirk, but it was refreshing to see that everything doesn't follow an easy path. Not everyone who "wants it" gets to have it.

This book pairs quite well with the movie Bull Durham. Both are fantastic glimpses into life in the minors.

Repetitive & Average

Performer does well with the material provided. Stories were uninteresting and not funny. the "ZaNy CoNfLiCt" in the locker room felt boring and could easily be swapped with any other environment.
