Ce que les critiques en disent

PRAISE FOR BLOODLESS

"Leave it to the imaginations of Preston and Child... Spooky and surreal [and] wonderful fun."

Kirkus
"BLOODLESS is their 20th novel featuring one of the most unique protagonists in all of thriller fiction, Agent Aloysius Pendergast, and may rank as one of the finest books they have ever penned together.... BLOODLESS is a pure pleasure to read and is like candy to thriller fans --- candy from which readers will drain every ounce of flavor in pure delight."—BookReporter
Bloodless is rife with inventive scenarios, amusing exchanges (especially between oft-impatient Coldmoon and eternally placid Pendergast) and tantalizingly spooky mysteries, topped off with a gloriously wild finale that is as action-packed as it is memorable.”—BookPage (Starred Review)
PRAISE FOR CROOKED RIVER "Exciting. Nail-biting. Quality storytelling."—Publishers Weekly
"Preston and Child know how to craft compelling stories that are both baffling and surprising. The cast of characters feels authentic and moves the story forward in unexpected ways. . . the authors are masters of the procedural with a gothic flair."—Associated Press

After Bloodless, which was definitely not their best work, this was a huge return to form! I am so happy with this book and can't wait for the next one.

Wow!

It was wonderful, and some how I knew that they were going what they did.

They did it

Great story line but NO ending very disappointed I have read all of their books

never thought these two would leave me hanging

I wouldn’t call this a Pendergast novel as much as a Constance Green novel featuring Pendergast. (Thankfully in this book Constance doesn’t sound like a frail 90 year old who swallowed a canary). This was a good book, especially after the let down of Bloodless but I do miss the original premise of A.X.L. Pendergast and his brilliance. Would I recommend this as a fan of Preston & Child, absolutely. Will I get the next book to see through the story line, absolutely. Do I hope after that P&C go back to a more traditional Pendergast novel, also absolutely.

Worth the listen but not a typical Pendergast novel

Excited for the next

Not happy to find out at the end of the book, with approx nothing resolved, that it was the 3rd in a series of 4.

Unfinished Business

The characters I’ve loved for 20 years are all falling apart at the seams and the whole thing just felt unnecessarily pretentious and like the authors just gave up and went full sci-fi.

Disappointing

I want to start by saying thank you to Preston and Child for this series of books. I was a latecomer to the series, starting to read them in 2019. I was immediately drawn in by the characters, settings, & storylines. Each book has been well written & informative as well as being great fun to read. I have been very much anticipating this latest book . I’m so sad to say that I was disappointed. It was more like a soap opera than a mystery. The story focuses heavily on the character of Constance, and I found it tedious. I read Pendergast books for the mystery and crime -solving aspects, not for quasi-romance and time travel. Having said that, if you like that sort of thing, you may very well enjoy the book. One of the aspects I like best about this duo’s writing style are the wonderful descriptions of the settings of their books, and this book does not let you down in that regard. The descriptions of New York in the 1800’s are vivid & spark your imagination. The twist at the very end was a nice touch. I will of course read the next book, & I really hope there’s a little less Constance, and a little more Pendergast.

Much anticipated
