À propos de cet audio
Ditching the stuffy hang-ups and benighted sexual traditionalism of the past is an unambiguously positive thing. The sexual revolution has liberated us to enjoy a heady mixture of erotic freedom and personal autonomy. Right?
Wrong, argues Louise Perry in her provocative new book. Although it would be neither possible nor desirable to turn the clock back to a world of pre-60s sexual mores, she argues that the amoral libertinism and callous disenchantment of liberal feminism and our contemporary hypersexualised culture represent more loss than gain. The main winners from a world of rough sex, hook-up culture, and ubiquitous porn–where anything goes and only consent matters–are a tiny minority of high-status men, not the women forced to accommodate the excesses of male lust. While dispensing sage advice to the generations paying the price for these excesses, she makes a passionate case for a new sexual culture built around dignity, virtue, and restraint.
This counter-cultural polemic from one of the most exciting young voices in contemporary feminism should be listened to by all men and women uneasy about the mindless orthodoxies of our ultra-liberal era.

Too often the books in this area can be overly pessimistic but nonetheless cathartic (Douglas Murray as an example), so it was pleasantly surprising to hear the objective and optimistic views expressed by the author. Towards the end of the book are several anecdotes followed by the author's genuine actionable solutions.
I look forward to reading more from Louise Perry. Her points were well articulated, and the structure of the book was clear.
Thorough analysis of past and present culture

Delving deeper into the tenets of liberal feminism today, I couldn't ignore the glaring contradictions that seemed to disregard the best interests of women. Despite my aversion to conservative ideals, I found myself grappling with the limitations of liberal feminism. Reading this book was a pivotal moment for me, helping me define my own brand of feminism—one that acknowledges the realities of biology and seeks solutions to level the playing field for women. Henceforth, I proudly identify as a "post-liberal" feminist.
The only aspect of the book that left me wanting more was the exploration of the biological underpinnings behind many women's inclination towards masochistic BDSM. While the author does acknowledge the role of porn in shaping these desires, I felt that the biological aspect was somewhat overlooked. It's hinted at, but not thoroughly addressed.
If I were to offer my honest rating of this book, it would have been a solid 4 out of 5. However, in light of the all-too-common occurrence of biased 1 out of 5 reviews driven more by entrenched ideology than the actual content of the book, I've opted to give it a perfect 5 out of 5.
I guess I am a post liberal feminist :)

Additionally the book comes across as judgey, preachy and and more proscriptive than prescriptive. I strongly recommend Rethinking Sex: A Provocation by Christine Emba which has a similar core thesis but is delivered in a much more effective and engaging way.
I agreed with the central thesis but not much else
