Description

Joe Gunther, a longtime Vermont cop and now the head of the Vermont Bureau of Investigation, gets the call that every law-enforcement person hates: a cop has been shot and killed. A deputy sheriff was shot to death during a routine traffic stop on a dark country road.

From what can been seen on the cruiser's video recorder of the killers, it is believed that they were a couple of Boston-based drug runners who had been on their way from Canada down to Boston.

That's what brings Gunther and his team to the investigation: an attempt to shut down the major drug running operation, especially that of one Alan Budney. He's the disaffected son of a lobsterman, now a drug kingpin, who uses the closed, clannish lobster fishing community and his extended family in particular, to move drugs along the New England coast.

Should have used Tom Taylorson

I've really enjoyed over 20 of the Joe Gunther series but I couldn't even make it past chapter 8 of this book because the narrator was just... too nasally and not right for this series. I'm sure he's done other material well but this was just not one of the..

Terrible Narrator!

Have listened to all of the books and this is the first with a different narrator. I found it really tough to listen to him.
The voices he uses for the characters are annoying and interferes with the story.

can't deal with this narration

This narrator is awful, this is the 2nd book I've had to struggle through with him reading. His voices are horrible. Tom Taylorson is the voice of Joe..

Omg just skip this one.

Why on earth did the narrator change? This guy sucks. I didn’t finish the first chapter. Hoping it doesn’t affect the story line too much. I can’t listen to this. If this guy does anymore of this series, I am calling it quits. And I friggin loved this series. Ughh! I'm so mad I wasted a credit on this, they are expensive. I feel like I was tricked and scammed out of $ with this garbage. It should have had a warning that it wasn't the same narrator. It's not even that it was a different person, it's that this one is absolutely horrible. DO NOT WASTE YOUR $ OR CREDITS.

Missed Tom Taylorson

The new voice of Joe did not work for me. Will look for a paper copy of this book. Love the series, but after twenty books with Tom Taylorson’s voice telling the story it was impossible to change to new actors. I’m sure the writing is fantastic, but this audiobook is not for me.
