À propos de cet audio
Book two in the Hecate Cavendish series from New York Times bestselling author Paula Brackston - a magic infused series about an eccentric and spirited young woman who can see ghosts. This program is read by Marisa Calin, an Audie, Odyssey, and AudioFile Earphones Award winner.
Hereford, England 1881.
The adventure continues! After the fire and the tumultuous events in the cathedral library, Hecate is determined never again to come so close to losing the beloved mappa mundi. She has shown herself to be the greatest threat to the Essedenes and their plans and they will stop at nothing to be rid of her. With the help of her
archeologist father, and the support of the redoubtable and loyal Inspector Winter, she must take the fight to her enemies.
But the numbers of Embodied Spirits are growing with terrifying speed, and an atmosphere of violence and danger has taken hold of the ancient city of Hereford. Hecate dare not trust anyone beyond her inner circle, no matter how benevolent they might seem. Nor will she risk the lives of those she loves ever again. The goddess Hekate has called her to action. She must draw upon all her gifts, and the assistance of her family of ghostly allies, if the city is not to be lost to darkness forever.

Katarina Ashowan was not made for courtly life. Sure, her father is the famous house witch of Daxaria so she was raised among majestic castles, proper manners, and royal expectations. But Kat is also a mutated witch whose power aligns predominantly with fire. She’s more comfortable riding horses or learning to fight than she is making polite conversation and wearing fancy dresses. Which is why her upcoming assignment—serving her best friend, Alina, the soon-to-be crowned Troivackian queen—is anything but ideal.

Minerva Peabody needs a man. Unfortunately she picked the wrong one. The impoverished playwright has a dream to see her plays performed on stage, but in Elizabethan England, not only are women considered the inferior sex, they simply do not write plays. Faced with rejection after rejection, she decides to take one more chance with the most desperate theater manager in London, only this time she’ll use the cover of a man. Sucked in by a pair of bright blue eyes and impressive shoulders, she chooses Blake out of the crowd, never thinking he’ll actually play an active role in her ruse.

Ce que les critiques en disent
Praise for The Haunting of Hecate Cavendish:
"Brackston seamlessly blends horror, fantasy, and mystery...readers with a penchant for gothic fantasy won’t want to miss this." — Publisher's Weekly
"Hecate Cavendish is a breath of fresh air...Her capacity to explore the reaches of reality with courage and panache is a delight. This is a charming, uplifting, lyrical read." — Manda Scott, Author of The Boudica Dreaming Series
I was more than pleasantly surprised that the sequel was equally good, if not better, than the first book. That’s a rarity, I think.
The characters are rich, with depth and mystery, and the kindness of Hecate mixed with her pure, unabashed feisty and fiery personality make for a perfectly turned heroine.
And the narrator? There’s a reason this lady and her amazing voice have won big awards—absolute perfection!
Read it! It’s a wild ride through 18th century England!
Most Excellent Sequel!
