Beautiful war time English story

I was a little uncertain whether I would like this book when I first started it. I found the characters stereotypical, but when I allowed myself to accept the characterization for what it was, it didn’t take long to fall in love with the story.
I enjoyed the wonderful narrators. They made each character come alive. This is the first time I have listened to a book with multiple narrators and it was like listening to a radio play. What a treat!!
The message I took from the story is that all of us have something worthwhile to contribute to the world…how it is important to believe in ourselves, even in the most difficult of times.
The short clips of hymns sung in the background occasionally could have been longer as far as I’m concerned. What’s a novel about a choir without some choir song in it!

The variety of narrators made it very easy to keep track of all the characters. Each character was so different and interesting and their unique voices really made the book come to life !

I read this book a few years ago in paperback and recently revisited it on Audible; what a difference a great narration makes! The story’s themes of World War II and indomitable spirit are timeless and deeply moving. This audiobook is a testament to how masterful narration can elevate a story to another level. It’s a huge success in every way. Audible editors, take note: this is the gold standard for bringing books to life.
