À propos de cet audio

IT'S THE MOST MURDEROUS TIME OF THE YEAR…

Puzzle compiler and former Christmas sceptic Edie O’Sullivan returns in the newest seasonal mystery from bestselling author and ‘Queen of the Christmas Mystery’ Alexandra Benedict.

When Edie O’Sullivan wins a two-day Christmas break in a hotel on a remote Scottish island, she’s looking forward to a picture-perfect Christmas full of winter walks, roaring fires, good books and even better whisky.

But when a guest dies under mysterious circumstances, Edie realises that there is a killer amongst them. As more guests begin to die, it's up to her to solve the strange riddles found in the victims’ Christmas crackers and stop the killing spree. But as she gets closer to the truth, she puts herself in the way of a devious and clever murderer.

Can Edie solve these Christmas killings before she becomes the next victim?

Alexandra Benedict's Christmas novels have become an annual tradition for me. The narration by Sandra Duncan is perfection. I was drawn into the book immediately and hours of listening flew by. I was thrilled that Edie O'Sullivan was back in a new mystery with her partner, Riga and her "son", Sean. As Benedict does best, a cast of characters are introduced with tension building even before the first body appears. As I listened, I appreciated the genuine, late-in-life love that Edie and Riga have for each other, but also grew fearful as the body count increased. Fans of Agatha Christies "And Then There Were None" will appreciate Benedict's take on this genre.

Without providing any spoilers, I imagine that some readers may take issue with the ending. I, however, felt extremely moved by the ending and thought about the themes for days afterwards. I whole-heartedly enjoyed this listen and can only hope that Ms. Benedict will bring Edie back in future works.

Welcome Back Edie!
