I had the killer pegged from their introduction and it ruined it for me. It was so obvious and they were such a strawman of a character.
It wasn't a terrible book, but it wasn't good. Thin characters, thin mystery, and writing that could use another edit. (The author used "the guy" a lot, and it seemed out of place and distracting, for a classical style village mystery.)

Disappointed as it showed promise in the first chapter but then it was a drawn out boring slow burn that never heated up. I figured out who it couldve been early on but it was so boring and speculative that I had to skip chapters. This book was torture in how basic it was. I recommend Helen Fields series for true crime drama.
