I just couldn't ...the
I wish I could've continued listening, but the narration was getting on my nerves. Maybe I'll get the kindle option, even though the voice in my own head can be just as irritating. Sorry, i just couldn't.

The perfect Christmas story.
This was an adorable story. I have heard many different Christmas stories over the years and this one felt truly unique. There was some mystery, the characters were built well, and it was just sweet. I wasn’t a huge fan of the performance of it but in general I would listen to it again in a heartbeat! I enjoyed it very much!

yeahhhh...that cringy accent
I have to agree with other reviewers who have been less than thrilled with the quality of accents/voices. The Australian accent is truly terrible, all male voices sound the same...gruff and one dimensional. I only listened to the free ones because I'm a cheapo, but I definitely wouldn't use a credit on these.
I do tip my hat to the narrator for giving it an honest try!
I found the super easy conclusion to the main mystery a flimsy conclusion to something that should have been much more satisfying/interestig.

Passable story with sub-par narration
I gave this a try because it was free with my Audible membership: free is the right price. I finished the book but would not read it again or pick up another in the series if I had to use a credit on it.
The story is average at best: not horrible, not amazing, not much to do with Christmas other than the meet-cute at the beginning. I found it unnecessarily drawn out and think it could have been edited down significantly, but the characters weren’t terrible and I was curious enough about who the ‘bad guy’ was that I kept with it.
I feel this was more of a love letter to fans of the series though than a standalone book, and had I been a fan of the series would have loved all the cameos. But, as someone who has not read any other books in the series, there were too many parts that were slow and uninteresting because the author spends a lot of time with other characters from other books assuming I already know these characters, and I don’t. I figured it out (let’s be honest, it’s not rocket science) but I often felt like that friend that came to the party and is listening to everyone talk for hours about people I don’t know and don’t care about at all. In a paper book I’d have been skipping ahead.
The Narrator:
Not that good. I had to listen on 1.5x speed because it… is… so… slow… and I almost shut it off after the first chapter when she started narrating the kid. Cringe-worthy. Then she tried the Australian accent… *crikey mate, it’s like a dingo ate the narrator and then got indigestion*. The kids’ voices are the worst though. It is improved after speeding it up instead of listening at regular speed, but I would probably not be inclined to go for more books from this narrator, and had I paid money for this, I’d have returned it after chapter 1 for a refund rather than stick with it.

Difficult listen
Hate the narrator’s voice wasted a credit. I couldn’t stand listening to it. Very disappointed

Terrible book
Performance speed is all over the place and no emphasis on the right words very monotone too
Story all over the place doesn’t flow well can’t finish book as it’s been 3 hours and I cannot get into it at all
