À propos de cet audio

When a body turned up at her last catering gig it certainly put people off the hors d’oeuvres. With a reputation to salvage, Jodie’s determined that her next job for the village’s festival will go off without a hitch.

But when chaos breaks out, Jodie Parker somehow always finds herself caught up in the picture. The body of a writer from the festival is discovered at the bottom of a cliff, and the prime suspect turns out to be the guest of honour, the esteemed painter Duncan Stovall.

With her background in the Met police, Jodie has got solving cases down to a fine art so she knows things are rarely as they seem.

Can she find the killer before the village faces another brush with death?

Ce que les critiques en disent

‘A sparklingly delicious confection to satisfy the mystery reader’s appetite’ Helena Dixon, bestselling author of the Miss Underhay Mysteries

A delightful ensemble of characters, cheeky wit, and clever plot twists in the beautiful backdrop of Cornwall. Loving the mouthwatering cookery bits threaded throughout the series. If I had one criticism for this particular book it’s that the protagonist plays into far too many gendered stereotypes. It would be great to have a strong female lead who doesn’t lose her mind (and herself) whenever she’s in close proximity to raging testosterone and perky pects. Compared to the first book this read more like a romance novel with a mystery than a mystery novel with an element of romance. it teetered on the edge of frivolity as the romance element didn’t really progress the story or the mystery and tbh lowered my estimation of the protagonist. Otherwise very clever plot and mystery, and the characters and setting are both fun and complex and I look toward to returning to this world for more adventures.

Witty, suspenseful, heartwarming, cozy mystery

Ok, so, in the first book of this series, (very SLIGHT spoiler, here; we learn this info. within the first chunk of the first chapter) our main character talks about her ongoing anger at her former spouse for cheating on her. Then, in THIS book, (SPOILER ALERT!!!), she thinks, and talks with others, about having an affair with a married man as if it's nothing, and is completely justifiable if she and the married man have an instant, strong attraction and emotional connection, that it's wrong to choose to NOT act upon such a connection. And she begins just such an affair. Pretty darn publicly, too. Oh, and is upset when warned by a friend to not have an affair with a married man. Not even ONCE does she feel that she's doing anything bad to the man's wife. N.O.T. ok!!!!!!! She even views a possible affair as being just another "holiday romance", and says how she's been feeling like a teenager recently, so is even more excited at the prospect of helping a man cheat on his wife. W.T.?!? Oh, and, of course, she doesn't see ANYTHING wrong with modelling this behaviour for her daughter. I no longer have any respect for this series' main character. It's not like she's really young, thus immature and naive. Nope; far from it. She's over 40 years old!!!

Total hypocrite of a main character
