Unique storyline
I have listened to the first 2 audiobooks in this series and I find the storyline to be unique and interesting. It keeps you wanting to find out what happens next. I would say the negatives are that the dialogue between the characters is quite corny and the love scenes leave a lot to be desired. It’s not that they skip the love scenes …it’s more the dialogue makes it feel strange and awkward. I can’t tell if it’s the way it’s written or if it’s the narration that makes it feel that way. More likely it’s a combination of both.
But despite the negatives, the storyline does have sufficient twists and turns to keep you wondering how it all works out. I’m about to start the third book

Fast paced storyline was entertaining.
The storyline was entertaining, but the characters were a bit 2 dimensional and dialogue cheesy. Since this series takes place in the late 1980s, maybe the cheesiness was an artistic decision to reflect movies and tv series of that era?
I really didn't like how the narrator performed the two main characters' voices, especially Jae's. she's supposed to be a strong independent woman but the narrator makes her sound whiny and, as another reviewer mentioned, like a damsel in distress all the time. The upwards lilt in certain parts of sentences (not just the dialogue) throughout the book was also oddly placed and took away from the actual story.
