Description

Cultivation. Magic. Empowering unwitting animals!

A thousand-year-old cultivator, Drew, is about to ascend to a higher existence. As he begins the process, he finds out he has pissed off one too many demigods. Though he manages to fight off the concerted effort of sect elders and patriarchs...he is slapped away from the higher realms by something.

After an instant or an eternity, he awakens on a lower realm! The air is filled with garbage energy, and his emotions of all things are allowing him to control it. For a cultivator that has spent his existence absolutely controlling his thoughts...that won’t do at all. To regain his place in the cosmos, he will need to create the energy his is familiar with once more...even if it might poison the entire world.

Then again...he could just take it easy and leave all the hard work to his "willing" apprentices.

Ugh.

The entire premise for this book can be summed up as "What would happen if you gave some random smarmy self righteous know-it-all redditor unlimited cosmic power."

Endless slimy male gaze commentary about "females". Constant use of the R-word derogatorily. Fat-shaming "for the lols".

" you shitty rabbit!" hahaha exquisitely clever!

honestly reading the reviews before buying this book and finding a 3 star rating because some church boy couldnt handle a little bit of swearing actually made me buy the book.
AND I FUCKING LOVED IT!
I was sitting on a crowded quiet bus when he kicked the bunny for the first time and I almost died trying to hold in my laughter.

I would highly recommend this book if you like op MCs! our hero is ridiculously over powered but you have a sense that he isnt all powerful there are beings far beyond him in this wonderfully crafted universe. too often do we ran into MCS who are over powered in one simple form this one is well rounded and the author manages to pull it off with style. The MCs nonchalance at the feats of power he pulls off will quickly sweep you off your feet in wonder until u realize he is using it to do something funny like drawing a kilometer long penis in the ground..then you laugh some more.stop reading reviews and get the darn book already! I'm currently trying to find out when the next one is due to be released on audible.

Really close to a 5-star book... and funny.

I have listened to quite a few audiobooks whose reviewers claimed were hilarious and laugh-out-loud funny. Of all those books I think only one or two actually lived up to those claims. Keeping that in mind, I was laughing out loud like a crazy person at least once every couple of chapters. So if a fat, old curmudgeon like me was giggling all the way through this book, most other people should not have to worry that the claims are exaggerated.

Sadly, I was very close to skipping over this book based on the description. It sounded like another “over-powered, over-ego’d MC” book whose jokes were more likely to make me cringe than laugh, but based on a couple of the positive reviews which sounded like they were written by thinking adults, I took a chance...

The plot to this book mostly hangs in the background, and gives center-stage to a more slice-of-life flow. In spite of this, the book remains engaging and doesn’t have that pointless feeling that other books like it tend to engender. Really, you can feel the plot swirling around the bubble of ignorance that the MC is traveling inside and I fully expect the two to come crashing together in subsequent books.

This book isn’t for kids but that’s more due to language and attitude. Thankfully, in spite of sometimes being a little crass this novel doesn’t have any of the cringe-inducing, 13-year-old sex fantasies or completely unbelievable harem BS that seem to pollute every third fantasy title on Audible these days.

Lastly, although this is a story about a cultivator, it spends more time making light of the tropes of your typical Xianxia cultivation novel than it does adhering to the common tenants of that genre. Which I found extremely refreshing.

I honestly can’t imagine that anyone who has read this review and come away thinking they might enjoy this book will be disappointed after spending the credit.

I really wanted to give it 5 stars, but I try not to hand those out just because a book is really really good. They have to be amazing. But I’m still torn about my decision.

The Dao of Magic

This was definitely a fun take on the Wuxia/LITRPG genre. Pavi does a fantastic job narrating and made me laugh out loud countless times. The magic/cultivation is explained in detail and relates the idea to modern concepts in places.

Excellent world, no plot

I love the fact that physics is incorporated into the magic system. The characters are interesting. Aside from growing in power at ridiculous rates, I'm not seeing a narrative in this book. It was still a fun read though

Author needs a better editor

Honestly. Theres only about 11 hours worth of story in this 17 hour book.

I dont know who is in charge of telling him "No, dont waste 50 words on explaining something that can be done with 10".
But, I do know they're not doing their job.

The amount of time I felt like I needed to skip forward in the story are too many to count. Not to mention
the times where I just kinda zoned out without realising it because once more the main character spent
10 minutes explaining something that could be explained in 2 minutes.

I would honestly say this book is good, but the main character is boring as fuck, he reminds me of that guy
that insists on explaining something to you that you have no interest in or that you already understand.

I had been wanting to buy this authors other book for a while, but frankly, if THIS book is wasting 5-7 hours
worth of the book explaining boring things that you already understand, then I dont know how much book
there is left if he does the same in the other book he wrote since that book is only about 9 hours long.

Overall, I'd say get this book if you have nothing better to do, otherwise just get something else.

Voice actor does a splendid job however.

Worth a review.

This was exactly what the doctor ordered. Fun, Funny. Not too serious. Good world Building. doesn't push an agenda. semi unique concepts. descent character development. no harem(not sure why authors put those in stories). please keep it up. =)

A bohemian cultivator.

From his thwarted ascension to godhood our hero is plunged into a lower realm of moody mages and grimdark overtones. He brings a thousand years of cultivation knowledge to a new world and uses it to knock it out and rifle through it's pockets.
Such a fun approach to the genre, hands down in my top three wuxia novels. Humorous and playful on every level, if you're on the fence give this one a chance. I really can't imagine anyone regretting it.

Thought Provoking

This book is filled to the brim with technical information surrounding an imaginary Chi/magic system. Yet , it is structured in a way that makes more sense as the book goes on.

It is nice to have a main character who isnt a bumbling teenager. Having an overpowered MC has been used but I enjoy watching him regain his lost power.

The way he literally Shouts at his Chi to do stuff his absolutely hilarious.

The book is at a good length but it doesnt really end. It could end, I suppose. It could continue, I guess. It ends very nonchalantly. It's hard to describe. You will have to develop your own opinion.

I am now a fan of Louws. His book "Histaff" in addition to this book gives me a good idea of his writing style and I look forward to what comes next.

Don't worry about the naysayers.

By naysayers I mean the people above or below that complain about the MC being over powered or OP for short. Yes, he is OP. That's the thing, you have to take CONTEXT into account when making a call like that. When a character starts off normal or weak then by the middle of the book they can do crazy ass OP stuff then that is annoying. This character isn't that at all. This character has been alive for more than a thousand years when the book STARTS. Which means he is already crazy powerful especially since he appears on a world with lesser energy than what he uses. So yes, he is properly strong for the book he is the star of. Also they bitch about him not having an enemy or something to fight against. Also wrong. He just showed up on a planet he knows nothing about. His fight is against information. He must learn what he needs to learn to move forward. It's great and very funny. Worth a credit or money, so enjoy.

just why?

this is super nerd know it all fantasy. and it falls very flat for me. everything is in complete monotone with little to no imagery or scale for most things. explanations tend to be this happened or such quick brusque understandings bcuz our narrator understands too much and can't really be bothered to tell the reader much. maybe it got better after the first half, but I gave up. still author shows promise and I laughed a few times. I think a few more years to hone their craft will generate a very good story.
