À propos de cet audio

Gavin McInnes is more than just a rude lunatic who keeps getting beat up. He is an icon who personifies irreverence for an entire generation. This is his story, or, rather, stories - lots of them, and all gut-punchingly hilarious, from that first far reach into a girl's tight jeans to turning forty with a cataclysmic party.

In between you’ll hear about acid trips, threesomes, Nazi skinheads, his band Anal Chinook (Inuit for “warm wind”), Martians in northern Canada, throwing pedophiles in jail, dinner with the Clash, what happens when you crash Bill Maher's show wasted, and the true story of Vice magazine. A gifted writer and a born storyteller, McInnes has lived his life without apology. Learn from it.

Honest review I had no idea who this author was and was giggling at the content when my husband informed me of who he is. Blarg! So I'm basing my review on that...my ignorance. I enjoyed the book, I laughed, he has a easy to listen to voice and the stories although some seemed a little embellished were good. Don't read/listen if you're offended easily. Reminded me of "I hope they serve beer in hell".

Ack!

Hilarious, enjoyable and educational stories of Gavin's life. Inspires you to live a more courageous, funny, raunchy and interesting life. I don't recommend sleeping with so many women though because it will statistically hurt yours and the women's ability to bond. Also, it's probably not a good idea to do so many drugs because you could get hooked and die as Gavin describes about his friends. Also, it's probably not a good idea to get some much head trauma from fighting so much... BUT Gavin seems to have surmounted the odds, prospered and succeeded beyond what most of us could dream of and lived an amazingly interesting life all while keeping his unique character, decency, humour and honesty intact and created a great family at the same time.

Ok, there's some good stuff and really annoying stuff about this book. Per my heading, the author is an expat Canadian who now lives in the US.
The Good:
- Some great stories. I mean, stories that have you saying, holy s*%t - that's crazy! This guy has lived a full life. His liver should give out in his late fifties, but he will have died knowing he lived life to the fullest.
- It's an interesting tale of coming of age and what you can achieve if you're true to yourself.
- It's gonzo journalism that Hunter S. Thompson would approved of.
- He does a great Scottish accent, so when he's writing/narrating about his parents, it's extra funny.
The Bad:
- For the most part, McInnes is a huge douche bag. For anybody who's stand up and half normal, 75% of the book is beyond cringeworthy (but also funny, so I'm kind of torn). Eventually, the shenanigans become too much and the last part of the book become trite and verges towards boring.
- I was hoping to hear more about the author's politics and his role in helping to creating the alt right in the US, but there was little of that. To be fair, I don't think the book was supposed to be about those topics. I had just assumed. My bad, but it's also my review.

The US can have him...

Guy is just high and mighty on himself. Kind of a turd. Few good stories in here though I’ll give him that

i listened about 1-2 hours of it.
some funny moments,
kind of listening to a guy chatting and telling his stupid memories.
if i listen to more and find it different will update this.
sort of nonsense any cool dumb guy tells when they find a chance.
not valuable or even insightful.
