Who could forget the sexy "Cherry Pie" girl from hair metal band Warrant's infamous music video? Bobbie Brown became a bona fide vixen for her playful role as the object of lead singer Jani Lane's desires. With her windblown peroxide mane, seductive scarlet lips, and flirtatious curves, she epitomized every man's fantasy. But the wide-eyed Louisiana beauty queen's own dreams of making it big in Los Angeles were about to be derailed by her rock-and-roll lifestyle.

Fame can be addictive. From his early days videotaping crazy skateboard stunts to starring in the blockbuster Jackass franchise, there was little that Stephen “Steve-O” Glover wouldn’t do for attention. Whether it was stapling his nutsack to his leg, diving into a pool full of elephant crap, or routinely risking death invading the private lives of sharks, lions, tigers, and bears, almost nothing was out of bounds. And as the stunts got crazier, his life kept pace.

In 1984, at the age of 20, Duff McKagan left his native Seattle - partly to pursue music, but mainly to get away from a host of heroin overdoses then-decimating his closest group of friends in the local punk scene. In LA only a few weeks and still living in his car, he answered a want ad for a bass player placed by someone who identified himself only as "Slash." Soon after, the most dangerous band in the world was born. Guns N' Roses went on to sell more than 100 million albums worldwide.

As lead singer and songwriter for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Anthony Kiedis has lived life on the razor's edge. Much has been written about him, but until now we've only had his songs as clues to his experience from the inside. In Scar Tissue, Kiedis proves himself to be as compelling a memoirist as he is a lyricist, giving us a searingly honest account of the life from which his music has evolved.

From the do-or-die early days of self-financed recordings and D.I.Y. concert productions that were as flashy as they were foolhardy, to the multi-platinum, MTV-powered glory years of stadium-shaking anthems and chart-topping power ballads, to the ultimate crash when grunge bands like Nirvana forever altered the entire climate of the business, Tom Beaujour and Richard Bienstock's Nothin' But a Good Time captures the energy and excess of the hair metal years in the words of the musicians and industry insiders who lived it.

The son of a classical pianist straight out of the Bronx of old Archie comics, Steven Tyler was born to be a rock star. Weaned on Cole Porter, Nat King Cole, Mick and his beloved Janis Joplin, Tyler began tearing up the streets and the stage as a teenager before finally meeting his "mutant twin" and legendary partner, Joe Perry. In this addictively listenable memoir, Tyler unabashedly recounts the meteoric rise, fall, and rise of Aerosmith over the last three decades and riffs on the music that gives it all meaning.

When this best-selling autobiography was originally released, everyone was shocked: The Long Hard Road Out of Hell was the darkest, funniest, most controversial and best-selling rock book of its time - and it became the template, both visually and narratively, for almost every rock book since. Marilyn Manson is not just a music icon, it turned out, but one of the best storytellers of his generation.

Description
Now a Netflix original movie starring Machine Gun Kelly, Daniel Webber, Douglas Booth, and Iwan Rheon, directed by Jeff Tremaine.
Celebrate over 30 years of the world's most notorious rock band with the audiobook edition of The Dirt - the outrageous, legendary, no-holds-barred autobiography of Mötley Crüe.
Fans have gotten glimpses into the band's crazy world of backstage scandals, celebrity love affairs, roller-coaster drug addictions, and immortal music in Mötley Crüe books like Tommyland and The Heroin Diaries, but now the full spectrum of sin and success by Tommy Lee, Nikki Sixx, Vince Neil, and Mick Mars is an open book in The Dirt.
Joe Levy at Rolling Stone calls The Dirt "without a doubt...the most detailed account of the awesome pleasures and perils of rock & roll stardom I have ever read. It is completely compelling and utterly revolting."

To say that the members of Motley Crue are crazy would be an understatement. First hand account stories that you won't believe, and both sides of stories that probably land somewhere in the middle. I enjoyed this more than I thought I would...or care to admit. You won't regret taking the time to enjoy The Dirt.

"The Dirt" is an Accurate Description
No-one in their right mind would let someone they care about anywhere near the members of Mötley Crüe in the 80s and 90s.
These are distasteful but most-interesting individuals. Mick Mars is a genuine quality musician - the other guys were clearly self-declared "punk" poseurs cashing in on perceived badassery for drugs, alcohol, and easy pussy (although Nikki can write). The book is interesting and filled with jawdropping anecdotes, but is pretty obviously self-serving (Take each of these stories of mindblowing sexual excess and kicking ass in fistfights with a huge handful of salt). There is very little "biography" in the writing but a whole lot of "shock 'em". I learned a lot about the band, but did so by reading between the lines. With the notable exception of the description of the death of Vince's daughter Skylar (which is filled with legitimate pathos), this is a superficial examination of superficial people.
The ensemble reading cast (Sebastian York, Roger Wayne, Fred Berman, MacLeod Andrews, Hillary Huber) is Hit & Miss: Each chapter is written by a different member of the band - or entourage - and each is read by a different voice actor. Each of the chosen actors reads clearly, realistically, and emotively. Using different voices also nicely breaks up the text (reinvigorating interest). It's a good strategy - but then the voice actors selected sound quite similar.. ruining the effect. To that error I have to add that their collective pacing is poor - I sped the recording to 1.25X to get a comfortable rate. The narration is thus overall "decent".
I never saw the NetFlix production, but I imagine it's entertaining. The book is certainly dramatic enough to inspire a decent show..
But there are some glaring drawbacks: The text is self-serving and strains credulity. The band members are unapologetically irredeemable. The narration is underwhelming.
After all of that, this is a professional and immersive audiobook. If you're curious about the band members, this book is unspectacular but provides some insight into where they came from (for better or worse). It's worth 6/10 Stars - and your time - if you're a Crüe fan. If you don't know who these guys are, and don't really care to hear about low quality human beings misbehaving, you might do better spending the Credit elsewhere.

1000x more detail than the movie
*The movie was a sample of Crue info so please, do yourself a solid and actually read/listen to the book.
Just a heads up, it is raw and some pretty serious stuff happens in the book. Detailed drug use, admitted rape, death, violence amongst men and women, etc.
I read this book like 10 years ago but I wanted to listen to it as I have issues with reading comprehension and I skip stuff without realizing it. Even if you read it and don't have learning issues like myself, I still recommend it again. While it isn't their voices on the book, they did a pretty good job picking good narrators.
The reader did a good job in the Skylar chapter and Tommy's narrator did really well with Tommy's jail chapter. They were able to channel the guys pretty well.
If you are a Crue fan or even if not, it is a really good book. My only qualm is that there isn't much Mick in it. But Mick is a quite guy so I am not surprised that there isn't a ton.
All in all, I love it and glad I got the audiobook

Entertaining but...
The book is entertaining but so much of it is crap. These scrawny punks wish they were as tough as they claim in their stories. I was around LA often during many of the events they speak of and these "tuff guy badass" fights they brag about never went down the way their story says. These dudes acted tough but got their asses kicked often by dudes that were and are still a million times tougher. The more I hear from Nikki Sixx the more I realize he is a legend in his own mind. The books good as a work of heavily embellished fiction

Crazy and Disturbing.
I have been listening to Motley Crue since they came out in the late 80s and have seen them three times in concert. I watched the movie on Netflix and couldn't wait to listen to the book. The book gave an interesting insite into their childhood and adult lives as well as that of the band BUT I have to say that I was disturbed by some of the stories. An unreported rape was mentioned - seriously WTF. And Vince Neil only did 20 days in jail for vehicular manslaughter not to mention the passengers of the other car suffered severe injuries. I'll give them 5 stars for honesty.

I really liked the story and the format of the book. It was different, in that the story is told. You hear each band members point of view and recollection of various memories.
Narrators were great, you could tell there were four different voices but they did sound very similar. I kept looking at the chapter name to see whose point of view I was listening to. If I had my wish, I'd choose more distinct voices.
I've never seen the show and not a big Motley Crüe fan BUT I really enjoyed this book and finished it in 3 days. It was hard to put down/away.
Now I'm going to watch the show and probably hate it...haha

These guys are such babies.
It got an extra star because I couldn't stop listening to it. It is juicy. But it's mostly listening to these guys justify their behavior. My favorite line is from Tommy Lee: "I could have never imagined that night when we stared in each other's eyes at Señor Frogs, that it would turn out like this."

What a badass story of truth, rebellion, & LOVE
I absolutely loved this fucking book. I grew up head over heels in love with this band. I never cared about the bad shit the media reported bc I chose to love them unconditionally for who they were. My life story is not much difference then theirs except I am a chic and I had a big part of all 4 of them rolled into 1 life. I thank all for of you for your brutal honesty of what your life was like and each one of you grew in spite of and still remain to be you and do what you love to do. Kudos to all of you. And I really hope you guys make it to St. Louis on your 2020 tour bc if u do I will be the middle age rocker chic with her rocker looking old man rubbing her ass up on him dancing the entire show singing louder than any one else and taking him home banging until the sun comes like with crazy Motley fantasies in my head and knowing I just watched the best rock n roll band in history again for the umpteenth time.

Amazing Story!
The story of Motley Crue was gross, uncensored, and awesome! The way this book was laid out and great work of the narrators, it really brought the story to life. I was initially daunted by the length of the book, but I was left wanting more. This is a MUST read!!

Badass!
Movie and book are awesome! Crue head Forever! I love how they held nothing back. Way more detailed in book than movie.
