This story is filled with physical violence against a child such that I had to set it aside to recover my mood several times.

Almost everyone is drawn as darkly flawed if not outright evil.

The narrator has a voice that could make him great but he uses it as bland description. Even action scenes are moref "reported" than performed. He also is incapable of pronouncing "ing" endings and it becomes annoying fast.

Despite the unrelenting darkness of the content the underlying story holds promise do I kept with it. It does get better in the final couple hours and the culminating conflict is good. The ending is a bit weak, but what can you do.

Narration is terrible. Story starts with a glaring error: how could this girl possibly know she was talking to her father when she dialed 911 for help.

The synopsis of the story had me intrigued, but I had to stop and start a few times, as I couldn’t tolerate the narrator’s terrible imitation female voices. This story would have benefited from having a female do those characters.

I appreciated how much of a beating one of the protagonists was taking. Seriously surprised he made it to the end. Good ending.

The narrator distracted from the story.

Very very descriptive and immersive writing and extremely well narrated audiobook - it all resulted in such a good and extremely engaging storytelling!
I truly felt how bad things were getting for Ian as the hunt was going and I absolutely adored how gritty the entire environment felt!
Very good story overall.

Like many people who have already reviewed this audiobook, I agree that the story is a great mystery that keeps you on your toes, but the audio/reading is really lacking.

I enjoyed this book good story and suspenseful. I definitely will read more by this author but only if it has a different narrator.
There was absolutely no emotion in this voice and it was very annoying.
Perseverance made me finish the book. For it was good story and has potential. I enjoyed the story itself but not its telling if it.
Hope this author use a different narrator. He was annoying throughout the book. Thank you Audible Plus.

The accents and the way the narrator changed voices

If not for the lifeless, cadence-less narration, the story is compelling and exciting to follow. The performance could pass for an AI not that just doesn’t get it. The writing itself is gripping and hopeful. I just wish the narrator did it justice.

This was a great story. it is well written and well performed. I almost didn't listen to it because of the reviews about the bad narration. I'm glad I didn't!!!
