Winter has stopped the war - almost - yet men are dying, calling out for the Dragon. But where is he? In the Heart of the Stone lies the next great test of the Dragon reborn.

TV series update: "Sony will produce along with Red Eagle Entertainment and Radar Pictures. Rafe Judkins is attached to write and executive produce. Great fantasy series

Fans of Brandon Sanderson will love this series by Robert Jordan's - you can see why Sanderson was the obvious choice to complete the series after Robert Jordan's death.

Robert Jordan's characters mature from wide-eyed innocents through to adults shaped by experiences both fascinating and horrifying. The world he created is full of varying cultures that are relatable, foreign and intriguing at the same time.

Michael Kramer and Kate Reading's performances delightfully bring the cast of characters to life and transport you to the world of the Dragon Reborn and his reluctant entourage.

This series is worth the time investment - I thought 14 books would be daunting to get through but I'm now approaching then end and am sad it has one!

The attaclimg aliens were a surprise

Of you have gone through the first three then this is more of the same
Top notch story telling some of the best narrators in the game and a greater understanding of the characters and their depth within the world.

This is more four stories one during the same timeline from their own point of view. Rand and his struggle with acceptance, understanding and being hunted. Perrin amd his struggle of the wolves in his dreams, his part to play and his struggle to step out of his boundaries. Ewguaine and her battle with the true source, dealing with her temper amd rage and her fears that can get to her amd she also battles the dreams she has. Lastly we have Matt and his growth and change after being healed amd trying to become man but also tempted from his scheming pranks. Matts has the biggest transformation yet he doesn't really see it in himself. One similarity that binds all the stories is the determined mindset to do what they think needs to be done.

It is all wrapped up in a pretty little bow of surprises, twists and turns and a huge dose of Two Rivers stubbornness that will have you trying to read another chapter before going to sleep

Getting Darker. Loving it.

In this third book in the Wheel of Time series, Mr Jordan goes grittier.

He weaves four narratives together, following Mat, Perrin, and Egwene mostly - while Rand continues to flee his fate. This novel extends into Tel'aran'rhiod (the dream world) and brightens the richness of the world Jordan is creating by travels through cities and realms, on trails and on ships. There is far more violence and death in this novel and it introduces a memorable warlike race with the warrior code of Seguleh, the social structure of the Ademre, the militaristic tradition of Klingons, and the ferocity of Dothraki: all heavily reminiscent of Fremen: the Aeil.

The character development continues and the dialogue is improving, while Jordan's descriptions are astounding. Hot, bright Fire, and cold Darkness compete to dominate Jordan's environments...with vivid descriptions of smells and sights - rendering unforgettable imagery.
my only complaint: This book has a bit of a too-cute feel to it after the climax..attempting to tie up too many loose ends while still laying the foundations of a series. Jordan almost takes the need for a stand-alone novel too seriously, but introduces so many themes that it interferes with the endeavor. He carefully reintroduces conflict that feels almost tacked-on, given his efforts previously. By the end of the novel, there is frustration rather than satisfaction.

Michael Kramer and Kate Reading are simply the best tandem of readers in Audiobooks. They actually put very subtle accents to characters of different races wothout overdoing it.

Altogether, this production of a startlingly well-crafted adventure is worth 9.5 out of 10 stars

Wheel of Time

I find its a really good book/series. In my mind Robert Jordan is one of the best authors out there. He knows how to write a story. As of yet i have not found a book of his i didn't like. I find this book is a bit fater paced and Matrim my favorite character is a bit more in this one.

Can’t get enough!

Once again Robert Jordan has captured my complete attention! I love that there are as many heroine’s as there are hero’s! Each character is very unique & the narrators do a fabulous job of voice changes & relaying the suspense as well as the humour. Bravo again! Highly recommended!

Title

I found Book three to be even better than one or two. All storylines in this book are very entertaining. Mat's luck is very interesting. Perrin's falcon is a fun new character. The three hunting for the black ajah is tense and engrossing.
I am actually glad Rand is not a main character. I remember having read this years ago and finding him to be a bit annoying. But at least there is finally growth in his character.
Unfortunately, Perrin takes on Rand's role (and continues his own) of whiner in this one. There is a ton of "I never asked for this" GoT Season 8 vibes throughout the series that continues into book three.
That said, the characters mostly begin to accept their roles in the story by the end.
I still do not understand the constant blaming of Moiraine for everything. Nynaeve should have by now moved past the thought that this is somehow all Moiraines fault just because she is the one who went to Emonds Field.

There are a few errors in the audiobook which surprised me because I'd never heard errors like this before. For example Kramer says something like, "Perrin was too tired and hungry to worry about being respectful. And too hungry too, he realized". The third word there should be "angry". In another part, he says Lan "decided" to move like a shadow during a fight. The word in the book is "seemed". He seemed to move like shadow. How does something like this get through editing?
Otherwise again expertly read by Kramer and Reading

Great story with a different focus than the past 2

This Dragon Reborn shows that the story does not have to be from the perspective of its titular character. Instead focusing on the others from Emond's Field and leaving Rand to very brief passages in the book. This book really deepens their characters, and now they feel less like just support for Rand. Narration was great as always.

It all comes together!

A great conclusion to the first 3 story Arc. This is my first WoT read-through, and it's obvious to me now how much this has influenced a lot of other novels and series I have read in the genre or trope. Love it! Here I go on the next 10 books haha.

A tiny bit repetitive

Great new things in this one, but the end sequence is pretty much the same formula used in the first two volumes, the duels with Baalzamon gets really tiring. Still a really good book and leaves you wanting to get to the fourth volume immediately!

Getting Better

I feel 4 stars is being generous but overall the series is improving a lot. I have never been frustrated by a series characters more so than the ones in the WoT & it does feel like a struggle at times but I very much like the premise of the story & as I stated every book is improving. I'm going to continue with hopes that the character development improves also.

Top Quality Audio Entertainment

Kate Reading and Michael Kramer have achieved a feat of extraordinary ability. They have managed deliver a reading of the book with no sound effects or music that is both engaging and entertaining.

Hard to Rate

Would you listen to The Dragon Reborn again? Why?

No, it's extremely long and there are still a lot of books left in the series to finish.

What did you like best about this story?

The climax at the end, and the way Mat finally became a whole character.

Have you listened to any of Kate Reading and Michael Kramer ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes. They are my two favorite narators. I hear so many people talking about Michael Kramer in a negative way and I don't understand why. He has so many different voices for all the characters. He pauses in the correct places and his voice inflections are perfectly timed. My only knock on both of them is that they read a little slower than I do, but that is no big deal at all. I think they both have a good idea of what Robert Jordan intended his books to be percieved as.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

NO WAY!! This book is LOOONNGG.

Any additional comments?

This book is hard to rate because overall it is a fantastic story with deep characters. The world is alive with politics, good, evil, and everything in between. It has another fantastic climatic ending that really starts to get rolling from 2/3 of the book on. I do have 2 gripes about this series as a whole. First is the fact that a rediculous amount of time is spent talking about stuff in past books and explaining them for someone that might not have read the previous ones. This becomes really annoying. My second gripe is the "in between" stuff. You could read 30 pages in this book and not have a single thing happen. This is however what makes the world so intricate, and the characters so deep. Would I trade it for a shorter version? Probably, but I'll take it like it is for now and move on to the next book with the same excitement that got me this far.

not much really happens

Michael Kramer's parts rock, however half the book isn't narratored by him so there's that.

An outstanding novel in the Wheel of Time series!!

The Dragon Reborn is captivating from beginning to end! Robert Jordan does a wonderful job bringing many elements together at the end of this novel, and producing a very climatic ending. Though some might argue otherwise, the plot is moderately convoluted and will keep most readers riveted until the last page. It is well worth the listening!

Definately worth reading

I really like the way Jordan plays off the reluctant hero. His insights into men and women's views of the opposite sex are often funny and help relieve the seriousness of the story, which is, as always, incredibly original and well written.

Good not Great

I found this book the slowest of the series so far, but still enjoyed it and will buy the next one in the series. Great series, love it. I'm also getting used to the switching between the two narrators who are both brilliant.

Not the worst

This one isn't as easy to get into as the last book. Still pretty good. The main character of the series is barely even in this story, and he is definitely missed. All in all it just feels like a stepping stone to greater parts of this epic.

Weakest so far

Any additional comments?

I liked the first two books, this one just is the weakest so far. I went on to the fourth and it was the best of all. Dragon Reborn just kind of felt like filler. Like he knew where it would end but didn't have anything interesting to get there. Finish it though, cause the fourth book is great.
