À propos de cet audio

When five college friends cross America in a minivan to find themselves, they chance upon a road that isn’t on any map. They can’t resist exploring it. The van breaks down. They find a town, a massive trailer park steeped in squalor. The town isn’t on any map either. They find people in town. They’ll wish they hadn’t. The only sanctuary is the Big House - a giant mansion at the center of town that appears to be abandoned, only all the lights come on at night. Inside the Big House is the secret of the town. Inside, they’ll finally find themselves. They won’t like what they find.

I thought it was a well written short story but was left with the feeling that the author did not particularly like his protagonists. All of whom were flawed but not terrible people. The use of poverty as a metaphor for evil ultimately didn't sit super well with me when reflecting on the story after finishing it and there was a pretty gratuitous sexual assault scene that I don't think added anything to the story. I'm not completely against using the horror OF sexual assault in literature but this wasn't well done. Performance was great though.

Ultimately Mediocre

Christian Rummel did a solid job narrating this tale, which has a good premise. It felt a little too rushed and maybe needed to be a novella instead of a short? Some good parts along the way.

Decent little title

For a quick listen, it was entertaining. I would recommend giving it a listen, great for a road trip.

Good short book

Thought this story was going somewhere but was very disappointed by the ending. It had so many possibilities.

Disappointed By Ending

I had high hopes going into this, especially given how much I loved DiLouie’s “Suffer the Children,” but it just felt flat.

Great narration, forgettable plot

It's not a perfect story but it's still really good. it's short but has a solid beginning, middle and end. sometimes bite sized horror is just what I need.

A really good short story.

Like it was written by a horny teenage boy. Profane and lewd which distracted from the story. Didn't finish it.

Not worth my time
