À propos de cet audio
From the New York Times bestselling author of Practice Makes Perfect and The Cheat Sheet comes an expanded edition of The Enemy—a laugh-out-loud romance about rekindling old flames, with a never-before-seen chapter.
Enemies should never get a second chance. But this one might…
It’s been twelve years since June Broaden has seen her high school enemy (and secret crush), Ryan Henderson. That’s a long time to hold a grudge over some petty feud, but the sharp memory of him dangling a kiss at graduation, then pulling away at the last second, has fueled many angry fantasies since. Now’s her chance to get even.
Ryan, along with most of her high school class, is back in town for her best friend’s wedding, and June is eager to show the former bully exactly what he missed out on. A lot has changed since their high school days; June is the Southern queen of gourmet donuts now, not to mention one of the most desired bachelorettes in her small town.
What’s she’s not expecting, though, is for Ryan to show up looking like Adonis and touting his own career success as the youngest chef to ever win three Michelin stars. How dare he try to one up her revenge plot? Luckily June never backs down from a challenge…

So they convinced themselves and each other that their acts of kindness are actually fighting words, and acts of war. But, at least as of chapter 5, it's anything but. This roughly 30 year old couple who have known each other since high school and are attending their best friend's wedding (yes, her best friend is marrying his best friend) have decided to get right back into the thinly veiled "fighting" they did when they were younger. Let's see how this story goes.
I have a feeling it's going to stray into tropy territory and string us along until the end of the book when they can finally get together, but if I am pleasantly surprised I will update this review. But the humor is on point, and the denial that the female lead has for her feelings is hilarious to watch because it seems even she is aware that it's just an excuse to not admit the fact that she likes this guy. What does this mean? Well basically if the story does end up stringing us along, at least it'll be a fun ride. On top of that there is the career side plot , where he's questioning if he wants to continue pursuing success at the cost of his happiness and mental health , and she owns a bakery which is pretty cool and definitely means that there's a side of responsibility that could also get in the way of the rest of life. and in a romance novel, the rest of life includes the romance.
This book makes me want to scream with laughter.
