Description

From CNN’s veteran Chief White House Correspondent Jim Acosta, an explosive, first-hand account of the dangers he faces reporting on the current White House while fighting on the front lines in President Trump’s war on truth.

In Mr. Trump’s campaign against what he calls “Fake News”, CNN Chief White House Correspondent, Jim Acosta, is public enemy number one. From the moment Mr. Trump announced his candidacy in 2015, he has attacked the media, calling journalists “the enemy of the people”.

Acosta presents a damning examination of bureaucratic dysfunction, deception, and the unprecedented threat the rhetoric Mr. Trump is directing has on our democracy. When the leader of the free world incites hate and violence, Acosta doesn’t back down, and he urges his fellow citizens to do the same.

At Mr. Trump’s most hated network, CNN, Acosta offers a never-before-reported account of what it’s like to be the President’s most hated correspondent. Acosta goes head-to-head with the White House, even after Trump supporters have threatened his life with words as well as physical violence.

From the hazy denials and accusations meant to discredit the Mueller investigation, to the president’s scurrilous tweets, Jim Acosta is in the eye of the storm while reporting live to millions of people across the world. After spending hundreds of hours with the revolving door of White House personnel, Acosta paints portraits of the personalities of Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Stephen Miller, Steve Bannon, Sean Spicer, Hope Hicks, Jared Kushner, and more. Acosta is tenacious and unyielding in his public battle to preserve the First Amendment and #RealNews.

A good retrospect of the Trump White House

Acosta’s book is an intriguing tale of the mistreatment of the Press by the White House from a prominent in-front-of-the-scenes CNN reporter. I felt it was well written and well performed, but offered little new beyond what several other “palace intrigue” books of late. I appreciate Acosta’s sentiment that the press should be respected by the President, and the public should be less caught up in conspiracy theories, but echo his closing statement that with society as polarized as it is, I don’t know if this is possible anymore. Nobody from “Team Trump” will read this book, instead just dismissing it as ‘leftist/socialist propaganda’.

Thank you for your service, Jim. Never give up!

Loved it! Forgot so much had happened because it was a firehose of misbehaviour. It was important to be reminded because if trump and his ilk succeed at destroying a free, real press, democracy is a goner. Thank you for your work, Jim. Never give up!

A Cautionary Tale

Well written and narrated, this book should serve as a warning to all. We all must work to protect the free press and their ability to share truth. Great book!

Real News!

Great insight into the damage done to the free press in the Trump era and how Jim Acosta keeps searching for the truth... no matter how hard.

Scary

Good insight into what it's like to be a reporter in the Trump era. The scary part is that people's lives actually get threatened for no bigger reason than doing their job. Well done Jim Acosta.

Thoroughly Enjoyable!

This was one of the most interesting audiobooks I have listened to in a while. It gives an excellent account of the dangers of working as a reporter in the age of Trump. I learned about the importance of a free press, freedom of speech, and that we should do our best to defend the truth and democracy. Thank you Jim!

A must read

Exactly what I hoped for: an inside view of Trump's attempt to corrupt the press and how it turn the people against the truth and those who speak it.

An Apolitical Review

Some people give low scores for this book simply because of who wrote it. I gave it a lower score because of the lackluster read from the author - it was quite monotone, rushed and well, like a TV newsman. Too bad because there were some interesting stories, tidbits and points Acosta was trying to get across that are probably more successfully absorbed by reading the book as opposed to listening to him read it. I honestly thought he would lift the words from the page because not only is he a broadcast professional, but he also lived what he's writing about! Alas, it's quite flat and I found myself tuning out quite frequently because of it. Maybe he wasn't given any direction or maybe he didn't take it. Either way, the delivery takes away from fully connecting with the story he's telling. Also, there were some sloppy edits in the recording/rerecording process.
