Living in New Zealand, Jack Gee thought he was safe. The beautiful, isolated country had always provided a sense of security. When a virus begins to spread across the globe, he is on a hiking trip in the mountains, blissfully unaware. A desperate message from his wife Dee alerts him to the viral threat that turns humans into apex predators with one purpose - to kill.

The country collapses as Jack races to get home, and when he finally does make it out of the mountains he finds his peaceful life has been shattered. Banding with other survivors, they all must quickly learn how to survive in this new world.

I really enjoyed this story, it was hard to step away from. In fact I listened to the entire trilogy in three days!! I also will be watching for more from Adrian Smith.

I listened to this book in a short period of time book 1 and about to start book 2. Some of the scenes when the characters are smiling or laughing about something when literally two minutes earlier an entire family was torn apart seemed pretty unrealistic and the never ending children dying so gruesomely had me hugging my child even more and is a little triggering but gore doesn’t mean the book is bad, I very much appreciate the writing , the ideas and how the author keeps the readers captivated throughout. Non stop action. I am excited to read the rest.

This series of books lends itself to a strong genre and I have no doubt I personally couldn’t do any better in executing a series of novels than this author.
That being said, I was out by the middle of the second book. The plot was predictable and the characters where uninteresting. Maybe the plot gets better in the next books and to be fair the first book was kind interesting. But their are already a lot of great post apocalypse/ zombie novels and I don’t feel like this one passes muster.
Hopefully you enjoy it more than me.

Great book I honestly didn't know if I'd enjoy this genre. I found the characters and story truly engaging. As a Canadian its nice to find a book not based in the U.S.. Keep it up.

It was something new, usually the books that are relating to apocalypse are in USA/Europe. Definitely great point of view in New Zealand.
