Love the podcast, listened to every episode and then moved on to Alice Isnt Dead. Now working through this and the other Night Vale books.

Good story, though seems a little drawn out at times towards the end and then it all comes around and finishes strong and then you understand why the story is formatted the way it is.

Comments that this isnt a "real" Night Vale story are valid, though I tend to disagree. This is a more intricate story line with less supernatural content than you would expect from the podcast but still in the Night Vale universe.

EDIT/UPDATE: After some time away from this story I look back and tend to agree more with those commentators that this isn't a "real" Night Vale story. There are elements to it but overall it is quite a bit further off than I originally thought. Alice Isn't Dead, for example, is much more within the Night Vale Universe than this story but I still enjoyed them both.

I'm a regular listener to Nightvale. I love the macabre nonsense, but didn't think I could take a whole book of it. It took me a while to buy this book because of that. However, this isn't that. After an opening that is classic Nightvale to story slips into a surprisingly compelling, casually inclusive tale. The characters are unique but relatable. The book contains enough details to paint vivid pictures, but not so much that you get bogged down in the Moby Dick of it all.

The Faceless Old Woman has always been one of my favourite Welcome to Nightvale characters and this may be the best Nightvale book yet- I loved it! It also answers some questions that the podcast leaves open-ended.
It’s heartbreaking, heartwarming and a must listen.

The story is amazing, especially if you heard the podcast before, though it's not necessary. It makes you think about life and love and revenge in a novel way. The performance is astonishing as well. This is a fantastic story and the audio makes it almost perfect!

Mara Wilson does an amazing job delivering this well written and haunting story of loss, betryal and revenge. you will cheer, dispair, love and recoil from the life and decisions of this protagonist. A modern Greek Tradgedy style piece that I couldn't put down.
