First of all, the narration was very good for all three characters, BUT the youngest sister seemed to be read by the oldest sounding narrator, so that bugged me. I think if she’d been recast as the oldest sister, and switched the oldest to the middle and the middle to the youngest, it would’ve sounded right. The flirty middle sister’s voice worked fine for the character, but compared to the other two voices, she sounded the youngest of the three.

Narration aside, the story was heartwarming in many ways and it captured the complicated dynamics of families. I just didn’t care for the storylines of multiple marriages and divorces and infidelity and abortion. It was hard for me to empathize with the characters or like them.

So, overall the story is pretty well written and engaging, I just didn’t really like it. I love this author and her biblical historical fiction is fantastic. I will stick with those rather than her contemporary stories as I’ve read a few and don’t prefer them.
