In the early hours of a summer morning, a young woman steps into the path of an oncoming bus. A tragic accident? Or suicide? At the center of this puzzle is Adrian Wolfe, a successful architect and grief-stricken widower, who, a year after his third wife's death, begins to investigate the cause. As Adrian looks back on their brief but seemingly happy marriage, disturbing secrets begin to surface. The divorces from his two previous wives had been amicable, or so it seemed; his children, all five of them, were resilient as ever, or so he thought.

Great read
This was such an interesting listen. I really enjoyed it and felt myself getting more and more paranoid the more I listened. I docked off a star because I think Jones' previous novel, The Other Woman, was a better read.
The twist in this one was a bit obvious to me but it was still a great read.

Don’t get me wrong— I did enjoy this book. The reader did a fantastic job. I love audiobooks that make you feel like you are the character in the book. I was a bit disappointed that some parts of the story didn’t get resolved or wasn’t explained. It was still a very enjoyable read.

Frustrating—no twists, no surprises.
I easily figured out the entire plot very early in the book. I kept hoping I was wrong and there would be some twists but nope just pure tedium to get to the end. Also, the two main women characters were incredibly gullible and just plain stupid. Not very believable. The last half hour was overly melodramatic explaining every detail that the reader had surely figured out a long time ago.

Believe the hype on this one! Twisty turny thrill ride that grabs you from the start and doesn't let go! I found myself trying to find things to do just to keep listening!
I don't want to give anything away but wowza what a great thriller this one was!
Narration by Nathalie Buscombe was well done however I would have liked a little more delineation between Beth and Alice's voices.

Overall I enjoyed this book. I thought it was a bit slow moving until Part 3. I was pretty sure I knew where it was going and then suddenly, I was wrong! I enjoyed the way the characters evolved and was glad I read it. So many reviews are full of reports of “twists and turns”, as a good thriller should be and this was a good one.
I received an ARC of this book and have given my honest review.

Ridiculous
Yet another British domestic mystery where the women act like dimwits the entire time only to get even with the bad guy (that you can see coming from a hundred miles away) in the end. There will not be one plot twist you haven’t already figured out - so much so that you won’t even think it was supposed to be a “twist”.
Also, boring most of the way through. I regret this one.

Predictable and lack luster
I feel like I wasted my time listening to this. It is very drawn out and lacks true suspense which is needed in a story like this. Early on I knew exactly what Nate did. I continued listening in hope that it would either prove me wrong or get better. Neither happened.
