I want more. Good thing there's a second book!
I found it so hard to put this book down. Each chapter's end just made me want to continue listening! I finished this one in under two days and purposely waited until the sequel was published in audio before starting this first book because I knew I'd want to jump immediately into the next story.
If you haven't read the On the Record series yet, I highly recommend it, though it's unnecessary. (It's just so good.) The Fixer series stands on its own just fine! The characters are relatable, and even when one of the main characters, Michelle, is supposed to be a villain, it's hard not to get drawn into her story from the start. I was curious about her in the Red Files and Under Your Skin, so I'm grateful we learned more about Michelle, though the main focus in this book is introducing us to Eden, a beautiful foil to the icy Michelle. By the end of this book, I just wanted to smoosh them together! And, of course, read the next book in the series.
And the narration? Do you have to ask?? Angela Dawe rocks it, as she always does. Lee Winter's writing brings the characters to life, and Angela Dawe lets us hear their voices as only she can.

Angela Dawe is the GOAT
I liked the story, very page turner, well, minute listener? But really, what sells it is Angela Dawe. She is better than ever with this interpretation. Lee Winter + Angela Dawe is a power duo!

Enjoyable but needed more
I’m all for slow burns but this one didn’t even take off. I guess that’s for the second book maybe. Kind of felt cheated at the end after investing in it so long. Narrator was great at least.
