Hobbit toxicity
If I hear one more Lord of the Rings reference I'll likely scream! Typical fan fiction, shoving as many references as possible in, no matter if they contribute or hinder.
Without these, the book would be half an hour shorter and much better quality.

Loved it!!
Just finished the second book and it’s fantastic! Character development is on point, you cheer for them to survive and take back their world. Huge fan of end of the world as we know it books and movies and I would recommend this series to any one who is like minded.

I wanted to like this book
I struggled to finish the first book and wasn't sure I'd listen to this one. I got about 3/4 through this one and just can't be bothered with finishing it.
there is too much going on in one book, four plot lines (minimum) to follow, they are all mediocre. why not focus on doing one or two well thought out plots per book? I don't care about the characters when a book jumps all over.
the plot line of returning to America is BS.
minor annoyance, but how did the little kid manage to age like 4 years when the timeline between books is just a couple of months at most? this might be an accent thing, but the reader keeps changing up the female characters' name (Cee, Bee, Dee)
