I went into The Fox expecting something thought-provoking, but mostly found it frustrating. The story of two lesbians living in rural isolation could’ve been compelling, but the arrival of a controlling young man ten years younger, turns it into a strange, uncomfortable power struggle. The symbolism—especially around the actual fox—is laid on thick, and none of the characters felt particularly real or sympathetic. I wasn’t charmed, just vaguely irritated.
