We are approaching a critical threshold in the history of our species. Soon you will live surrounded by AIs. They will organize your life, operate your business, and run core government services. You will live in a world of DNA printers and quantum computers, engineered pathogens and autonomous weapons, robot assistants and abundant energy. None of us are prepared. As co-founder of the pioneering AI company DeepMind, Mustafa Suleyman has been at the center of this revolution. The coming decade, he argues, will be defined by this wave of powerful, fast-proliferating new technologies.

AI will generate unprecedented wealth, revolutionize medicine and education through human-machine symbiosis, and create brand-new forms of communication and entertainment. In liberating us from routine work, however, AI will also challenge the organizing principles of our economic and social order.

Every investment plan under the sun is, at best, an informed speculation of what may happen in the future, based on a systematic extrapolation from the known past. Same as Ever reverses the process, inviting us to identify the many things that never, ever change. With his usual elan, Morgan Housel presents a master class on optimizing risk, seizing opportunity, and living your best life. Through a sequence of engaging stories and pithy examples, he shows how we can use our newfound grasp of the unchanging to see around corners.

Artificial intelligence does the seemingly impossible - driving cars, trading stocks, and teaching children. But facing the sea change that AI will bring can be paralyzing. How should companies set strategies, governments design policies, and people plan their lives for a world so different from what we know? In Prediction Machines, three eminent economists recast the rise of AI as a drop in the cost of prediction. With this single, masterful stroke, they lift the curtain on the AI-is-magic hype and show how basic tools from economics provide clarity about the AI revolution and a basis for action by CEOs, managers, policy makers, investors, and entrepreneurs.

In this book, Amy Webb reveals the pervasive, invisible ways in which the foundations of AI - the people working on the system, their motivations, the technology itself - is broken. Within our lifetimes, AI will, by design, begin to behave unpredictably, thinking and acting in ways which defy human logic. The big nine corporations may be inadvertently building and enabling vast arrays of intelligent systems that don't share our motivations, desires, or hopes for the future of humanity.

Description
Audio Bonus! Includes exclusive conversations with the authors!
From the New York Times best-selling authors of Abundance and Bold comes a practical playbook for technological convergence in our modern era.
In their book Abundance, best-selling authors and futurists Peter Diamandis and Steven Kotler tackled grand global challenges, such as poverty, hunger, and energy. Then, in Bold, they chronicled the use of exponential technologies that allowed the emergence of powerful new entrepreneurs. Now the best-selling authors are back with The Future Is Faster Than You Think, a blueprint for how our world will change in response to the next 10 years of rapid technological disruption.
Technology is accelerating far more quickly than anyone could have imagined. During the next decade, we will experience more upheaval and create more wealth than we have in the past hundred years. In this gripping and insightful roadmap to our near future, Diamandis and Kotler investigate how wave after wave of exponentially accelerating technologies will impact both our daily lives and society as a whole. What happens as AI, robotics, virtual reality, digital biology, and sensors crash into 3D printing, blockchain, and global gigabit networks? How will these convergences transform today’s legacy industries? What will happen to the way we raise our kids, govern our nations, and care for our planet?
Diamandis, a space-entrepreneur-turned-innovation-pioneer, and Kotler, best-selling author and peak performance expert, probe the science of technological convergence and how it will reinvent every part of our lives - transportation, retail, advertising, education, health, entertainment, food, and finance - taking humanity into uncharted territories and reimagining the world as we know it.
As indispensable as it is gripping, The Future Is Faster Than You Think provides a prescient look at our impending future.

All hype, no insight
Sounds like a deluge of clickbaity headlines more than anything. No discussion of possible impediments, downsides, branching paths, etc.
(except a few strawmen at the end, dispelled by abusing the concept of loss aversion)
Probably interesting if you haven't read up on emerging technologies, but if you have, there's no new insights here.

Doesn't answer the main question
I liked the review of all the technology that will make the world better.. But it leaves flat the one question I wanted to answer... How to deal with the changes that feel like they will swallow us alive? So much change, and their only suggestion is to learn more faster... That won't/isn't keeping up with the changes that they themselves admit is exponential.

Unbelievable!
Tons of great learnings for me that certainly get the brain percolating on how the future is going to catapult society into many things and areas that are not on the radar for most of us today.
As these technologies converge, how we use them to better all humans and our world is going to take some real collaboration.
Have my leadership team reading this book now as this is a great read for anyone with an inquiring mind.

Superbly Narrated by Peter, with some great additional conversations between him and Steven which helps to elaborate, add context and sometimes update you on a more current version of where the process is now at, this audio journey into not just what’s coming but what we can already achieve with science and technology produced more than one out loud “WOW”!
