The GAPS Diet For Beginners: Enjoy This Low Fodmap Wellness Protocol and Start Improving Your Health Today!

What is the GAPS diet? What are the benefits of this diet? Should you go for a GAPS diet at all?

The answers to all the frequently asked questions about this diet are revealed in this book!

The GAPS diet is a strict elimination diet that requires its followers to cut out grains, pasteurized dairy, starchy vegetables, and refined carbs. It is a natural treatment for people with a wide specter of health conditions. GAPS stands for Gut and Psychology Syndrome, a term invented by Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride, the designer of the GAPS diet.

At the core of the GAPS diet is the idea that people must avoid foods that are difficult to digest and might damage the intestinal flora or lining. Instead, it is recommended to stick to nutrient-rich food that will help the gut heal.

According to the GAPS theory, damaged gut releases toxins, produced by bacteria, into the bloodstream, which then travel to the brain and interfere with the proper functions of the brain. The theory states that eliminating foods that damage the gut could restore brain function to the optimal levels.

Here’s what this guide will teach you:

Misleading

This book was not what I expected at all. Very misleading title. The author uses the GAPS diet name to get you to read her own “gut healing” protocol.

My objections are as follows:

1. The author refers to the neurological differences, like autism, ADD and dyslexia as “diseases”.

2. The author refers to the GAPS protocol with words like “claims to”, “supposed”, “suggests”, while her own protocol gets words like “does”, “heals”, etc.. She clearly does not wholeheartedly believe in the GAPS protocol.

3. The author clearly leans toward a plant-based foods (“eat colourfully”, “eats 150g of fiber”), when the GAPS protocol is primarily based on low-fiber animal-foods. I almost had to stop listening when, looking to give a perfect example of “processed food” to “never eat again”, the author cited sausage. Wtf? Try shredded wheat? Or flour? Sausage, made from pork, cased in intestine, is a minimally processed food. Essentially, sausage is ground meat, which is easy to digest and unlikely to cause digestive issues. Even oatmeal, which the author loves, is a far more processed food than ground pork and, because of its high-fiber content, is FAR more likely to cause digestive issues.

The author’s diet may or may not work, but if you are interested in the GAPS protocol, do not read this book.
