Histoire
In her new novella, Sunday Times best-selling author Becky Chambers imagines a future in which, instead of terraforming planets to sustain human life, explorers of the solar system instead transform themselves. Adriane is one such explorer. As an astronaut on an extrasolar research vessel, she and her fellow crewmates sleep between worlds and wake up each time with different features. Her experience is one of fluid body and stable mind and of a unique perspective on the passage of time. Back on Earth, society changes dramatically from decade to decade, as it always does.

Histoire
It's been centuries since the robots of Panga gained self-awareness and laid down their tools; centuries since they wandered, en masse, into the wilderness, never to be seen again; centuries since they faded into myth and urban legend. One day, the life of a tea monk is upended by the arrival of a robot, there to honor the old promise of checking in. The robot cannot go back until the question of "what do people need?" is answered. But the answer to that question depends on who you ask, and how.

Tamsyn Muir’s Gideon the Ninth unveils a solar system of swordplay, cut-throat politics, and lesbian necromancers. Her characters leap out of the audio, as skillfully animated as arcane revenants. The result is a heart-pounding epic science fantasy. Brought up by unfriendly, ossifying nuns, ancient retainers, and countless skeletons, Gideon is ready to abandon a life of servitude and an afterlife as a reanimated corpse.

Description
Sunday Times best-selling author Becky Chambers returns to the Galactic Commons in the final instalment in her award-winning and critically acclaimed Wayfarers series.
With no water, no air and no native life, the planet Gora is unremarkable. The only thing it has going for it is a chance proximity to more popular worlds, making it a decent stopover for ships travelling between the wormholes that keep the Galactic Commons connected. If deep space is a highway, Gora is just your average truck stop.
One of the many establishments present is the Five-Hop One-Stop, a place where long-haul spacers can stretch their legs (if they have legs, that is) and pick up fuel, transit permits and assorted supplies. The Five-Hop is run by an enterprising alien and her occasionally helpful child, who both work hard to provide a little piece of home to everyone passing through.
When a freak technological failure halts traffic to and from Gora, three strangers are thrown together at the Five-Hop. Grounded and with nothing to do but wait, the trio - an exiled artist with an appointment to keep, a cargo runner at a personal crossroads and a mysterious individual doing her best to help those on the fringes - are compelled to confront where they've been, where they might go and what they might be to each other.

Very Mixed Feelings
First off, I dont believe that this is Chambers' best work, but that could be down to the allegory and my general burnout regarding all things quarantine-related right now. Maybe I'll come back one day and love it, but I found it a slog to get through, which is rarely the case with this author's writing.
Secondly, the narrator is really over-acting here. Patricia Rodriguez does a fantastic job on the other entries in the saga, but with this one the delivery seems forced and saccharine during otherwise moving moments. It can be very distracting.
Those are my complaints, which, if neither puts you off, I still recommend you pick this up. Even being the weakest entry in the Wayfarers saga, there is a lot to love here, with the alien cultures taking the spotlight. The Galactic Commons is such a strange and interesting universe, and even with my reservations I enjoyed a lot of what this book has to offer.
Rating this 3 stars kinda feels bad, but I cant really justify more than that. Come for the world building, stick it out through the tougher parts and you'll probably enjoy it.

The wayfarer universe keeps on giving
This book was as fascinating at world-building as it was emotionally complex and deeply…. Human, if a story about 5 non humans can be. Well worth the read. Maybe not as shocking and thought provoking as book 2 or as innovative as book 1, but this book and its narrator make GC space and those in it or reluctantly attached to it fascinating, frustrating, and make you long for another visit.

As boring as a users manual!
This book, along with book 2 & 3 in this series are not sci-fi novels, there is no story line, no plots, nothing! it's just anthology of alien lives, such as what they eat, what they wear, how they dance.
There first book is decent with a story and character development. However, this book to sci-fi is what 50 shades of Grey was to romantic novels, and I don't mean that as a complement!

The solar system I want to stay in
Discovering this galaxy has really allowed me to feel comfort in “life out there”. I love how Becky Chambers write with ease and charm to include relevant and valuable topics of our time. I’m sad that I have come to the end of these series, but ever so grateful to my friend who brought me through the wormhole to this world.
Also, I just love the narration & soundproduction around it.
