À propos de cet audio

Andrea Brafford’s life is nearly perfect. A passionate marine biologist happily married to Craig, the man she loves, she has recently moved into a home commensurate with their success to enjoy a life many others only dream about in one of Houston’s most desirable suburbs. But only a few months later, a trial that dramatically polarizes their town names Craig Brafford as a defendant in the murder of his young wife, shattering the serenity of the peaceful community.

Andi’s name is on everyone’s lips, her relationships exposed and torn to shreds in a highly publicized case that has everyone’s eyes glued to the internet. Andrea’s life remains a mystery that investigators and public opinion equally fail to solve. Was she the happy, devoted wife she'd made everyone believe she was?

Only she could answer that question.

The best-selling author of Dawn Girl is back with a suspenseful, gripping psychological thriller. Fans of Celeste Ng, Alex Michaelides, and Liane Moriarty will enjoy The Girl You Killed, an addictive psychological thriller that will keep listeners enthralled until the last minute.

This story was not bad. The last 3 hours are the best of it. It took so very long to get there and fall into place I had to force myself to keep listening.
The absurdity of the squeaky female voices and the male voices were the WORSE. They all sound like pre pubescent boys or the majority of men had feeble old quaking voices that made my blood boil. These men all seemed to be in their 90’s You could not decipher how old or how not old anyone was. What a horrible narrator. I am now going to add this narrator on my list with Megan Kelley and a few others as DO NOT LISTEN.

The last 2-1:2 to 3 hours were good story wise. And it had a nice twist and a good conclusion. I think if it was not for the narrator I’d have given this book a 5.
So glad it was included in my library for free.

Most Awful Narration . Spoiled the entire book

This book was maybe ok, but the narrator took so much from it that it was definitely difficult to enjoy.

Narrator was terrible

This Leslie Wolfe story follows a relatable young woman ('Andrea Brafford') struggling with family issues, life decisions, and a sketchy new husband. Secrets & lies abound in a creditable tale involving an out-of-the-headlines crime.
I liked Wolfe's storytelling technique - going back + forth from testimony at a trial to third-person narration of Andrea's travails - but the characters were two-dimensional and the writing was "capable" at best.

As to presentation: Reader Gwedolyn Druyor is professional enough (in terms of diction, cadence, and tone).. but her reading timbre is childlike, she reads far too slowly, and some of her voice-acting - particularly Spanish accents & the breathy voice-fry interpretation of 'Craig Brafford' - is straight-up execrable. Setting playback speed at 1.15X helps a little bit, but the performance is terrible.

Altogether, I rate 'The Girl You Killed' 5 stars out of 10. It was a reasonable way to spend a couple of snowy afternoons while on the 'Plus' menu, but not worth a Credit while other options beckon.
