I loved everything about this book. If it were a movie, it would be horrifying (ghosts, murderers, murder, torture, posession, and creepy dolls). As a book, it is surprisingly sympathetic. The narrator is a vengeful spirit who manages to capture the reader's heart

Its not an action packed book but the the story and characters are very interesting. I personally really enjoyed the slower pace of it, letting me get invested in the characters.

It’s not often that I listen to a book in 2 days, however I ploughed through this book!
For a free download it was well worth it, I think I will check out what else the author Ron Chupeco has done!

Second time listening to this wonderful story, and I'm just as enchanted the second go around. Spooky and heartfelt, this book will give readers hair-raising chills. It will also make them laugh and cry.

Exceptionally Spooky

The narrator was fantastic and really kept me entranced in the storytelling. I can’t really think of anything else to say as I think they did such a perfect job.

As for the story itself, I absolutely loved Rin Chupeco’s Bone Witch trilogy. When another option came up to listen to one of their books, I certainly looked forward to it. I was a bit dismayed as the story went on, since yurei has been done so often. However, Rin acknowledges this and puts their own twist on it by making the ghost into the protagonist. The author also has a wonderful knack for making such a compelling story and excruciatingly gruesome depictions of ghastly gore, without being so over the top it becomes boring or corny. The pacing does get a bit boring, and some elements are so common that you can see them coming from far away. This is ultimately due to pop culture exposure, because Rin stays faithful to actual cultural roots and practices that the stereotypes have been based on. Overall, I highly recommend this.

A gripping story with some enjoyable looks into Japanese culture. The odd name choices initially threw me off but I enjoyed the progression of both the story and the characters.

I loved this book. The narrator did an amazing job personifying the characters especially the ghost. The story itself was very interesting albeit a bit confusing at points but the poignant narration made up for that in sucking me deep into the story.
