Description

When Angela was young, before she came to realize she had a rare ability, she was a rather ordinary girl. At least, that was what everyone said. But Angela is anything but ordinary. The daughter of a meth addict, she is convinced she was born a freak. Haunted by an abusive childhood, she was forced to become a woman far too soon. And in the process, she became more.

Angela juggles multiple jobs to live a secluded life in a cabin in the mountains. But she also lives a secret life, right under everyone's noses. Because her family's bloodline carries the ability to recognize killers, she adopts a solitary, violent existence in service of her own, personal mission in life. When Angela unexpectedly finds herself the prey of a group of international terrorists, she is the only one who knows the truth of what they are about to do. She might look like an unlikely hero. She might also be our only hope.

Badly Written Male Rape Fantasy w Rants.

Spoiler alerts!
The Girl in the Moon is a TERRIBLE BOOK. It was a great concept, but so badly manhandled (and I use this word deliberately), that it is almost unreadable.
I think Terry Goodkind entered a bunch of Conspiracy / Conservative tropes into an AI and said write a 500 page novel. Then he added another 68 pages of repetitive text to make his word count.
Some highlights:
GRAPHIC rape scenes. To the level that it seems more like rape fantasy than necessary to the story. Also GRAPHIC depictions of child sexual abuse. TRIGGER WARNING.
REPETITIVE writing. You know when you read the second book in a series and there is that awkward part where they have to rehash the first book highlights in case the reader forgot it or is reading the series out of order? He does this every chapter or two. Was he paid by the word? Does he not have an editor?
SO MANY CONSERVATIVE / CONSPIRACY TROPES. Lets see, there are Islamic terrorists wanting to end the world, who also are Mexican illegal immigrants, the justice system and police are simultaneously corrupt and unwilling to prosecute the bad Mexican "illegal immigrants" because of a "Liberal agenda". There are long paragraphs devoted to why people need to be able to conceal carry guns and knives, all police are evil, Russian hacks are NOT Russian, instead they are Islamic terrorists embedded in Russia, you can't report anything to the FBI or CIA because the (Liberal) elites will leak it for their political gain, border security will be the downfall of America, etc. etc. Yes, many books have these ideas, but these were badly executed and often accompanied by 1 or 2 paragraphs of "Tucker-like" rants.
MAN trying to write from a FEMALE PERSPECTIVE and FAILING BADLY. Apparently, you can just brush off gang rape. And she seems to "get off" on violence in a creepy way, which doesn't fit the rest of her character development. Very clunky and painful to read, because she could have been great!
CONSTANT SLUT SHAMING is consistent theme thru the entire book (at least as far as I got). He seems obsessed with the whole whore/madonna garbage. So much extra detail in the main character's clothing (or lack thereof) that it is more male fantasy than a relatable heroine.
Summary - Badly written male rape / child abuse fantasy with repetitive conspiracy rants.
