In The Missing Chums, two of the Hardy Boys friends, Chet Morton and Biff Hooper, mysteriously disappear during a boat trip. The search leads to the sinister Blacksnake Island.

In Hunting for Hidden Gold, the Hardy Boys are asked by their father, Fenton Hardy, to investigate the theft of gold from a mining camp in Montana when he becomes injured and can't continue the search.

In The Shore Road Mystery, the boys attempt to solve a series of car thefts occurring on an oceanside road near their home of Bayport.
