I’m happy I listened to The Accursed Huntsman prior to listening to this book, otherwise I likely wouldn’t have searched more books from this author. Douglas Hoover’s writing is incredible and in the aforementioned book, the performance is also amazing. Unfortunately, the performance in this book was terrible. There were several repeated sentences which I’m assuming the performer meant to edit out but didn’t. There were several mispronounced words which was distracting. Finally, the performer doesn’t change his voice enough for us to easily determine which character is speaking. It’s very monotone throughout. Otherwise, I love Douglas Hoover’s writing and this story is great.

I’m looking right now for more titles by this author.. hopefully a different narrator as this one was quite monotone - if the story wasn’t so engrossing the narrator might have ruined it for me.
I can’t get this story out of my mind it just pulled me and I was both appalled and captivated by the story of such greed, injustice and corruption- things we are seeing more and more of every single day. All veterans deserve so much more than this.
