The society within toils under an oppressive regime, its structures always on the point of collapse, the lives of its individuals lived in misery. No one knows where they are going, why they are going or what they will find when they get there. The ending of the novel provides one of the most profound twists in SF.

At first I was super thrown by the thick Scottish accent of the narrator, but it didn’t take long to get used to it and really enjoy the performance. Having read The Prestige I was super interested in checking out more it Christopher Priests work.

I found the story at time baffling, but always engaging. An interesting take on perception and how one views the world.
