Histoire
Tyler Barron is about to lead his fleet into a trap. He is sure the enemy is laying in wait, but he has no choice. After four years of unexpected calm along the front line, the Senate and the Hegemonic Council are demanding action, and the Pact’s commanding admiral has no choice but to set out on a mission to liberate the enemy-held regions of the Hegemony. While Tyler prepares for an offensive he believes can only end in disaster, Andi Lafarge is preparing to continue her quest for the mysterious weapon the doomed empire used to defeat the Highborn centuries before.

Histoire
Tyler Barron and his associates are divided, split between two courses of action. Barron doesn't believe in the desperate plan to eradicate the Highborn, the strange virus that has been created for that purpose, but may or may not be the exact formula used by the empire 300 years ago. There are too many possible problems...a small difference in the virus, a cure created by the enemy...for him to accept the plan. Barron commits instead to a traditional defense, even though he knows the chances of ultimate success are almost zero.

Histoire
Admiral Tyler Barron and the Confederation navy face a new threat, darker and deadlier than any that have come before. The Confederation has just concluded its war with the Hegemony, but now that power, so long the hated enemy, is calling for help, for the Confederation to join it to face a deadly invasion, one likely to subjugate all humanity. Barron must overcome his own resentments, and the resistance of the Senate, and find a way to lead his forces into battle once more. The odds are long, but the stakes couldn’t be higher, no less than a choice between survival and freedom.

overall pretty much a let down
normally I like these books and I've enjoyed the series but this book was pretty much just to let down with nothing really resolved and I felt like characters were put into situations just because Jay had nothing else to talk about

WOW
Can't wait for the follow up. Continues to surprise all the way to the finish. Both exhilarating and heart wrenching at the same time. Can they save humanity? What of the other enemies?

The same story again.
Read one other earlier books again. They are better written and the theme of the superman warrior does not get smarter.

Wash, rinse, repeat
At least one quarter of the story repeats previous books. It is easy to tell the author is just trying to stretch out the story to sell more books.

Good Story, a little repetitive.
As always, the story was mostly written well and left me with some surprises.
The only thing that got to me would be some repetitive phrasing with worries or concerns. Mix it up.

needs abrigement
The storyline is great, though the book could probably be cut by at least 1/3 if you remove all the distraught commentary like "Whatever it takes!". We get it... all 1,478 times.

over and over
This soap opera of so fare 14 books is really only 10 books. The rest is an endless repetition of the same storys again and again. Dont listen to this series continusly, break it upp into a book now and then or i bet you will find it tidius.

Time to wrap it up.
Love this series. Kafer is the best narrator but these author’s ruin great series by trying to cash in too long. These books are predictable and are the same story with more evil opponents. This book already suggests the next book’s enemy. I’m not sure what the author will do next however. In the first series the fighter pilots were forced to release their torpedos within an unheard of 5,000 meters. In successive books the distances narrowed to 500 meters in the Last Stand. What is next Kamikazi? This is symbolic of the series.
