À propos de cet audio

Martin Clark has been praised as "part John Grisham, part Hunter S.Thompson, and part sheer grit". Mason Hunt returns to his small Virginia hometown as the county's commonwealth attorney. Mason's brother Gates, who's currently serving a 20 year prison term, thinks Mason should have enough pull to set him free. And when Mason refuses, Gates hatches a plan to destroy his brother's life with a secret they both swore they'd take to the grave.©2008 Martin Clark (P)2008 Recorded Books,LLC Fiction Fiction de genre Fiction littéraire Juridiques Thrillers et romans à suspense Droit Suspense Crime

Very realistic (I'm a criminal lawyer). Lot of wisdom about making the law work. People with faults, some overcome.

very wise

This Martin Clark story follows the travails of 'Mason Hunt' - a hardscrabble semi-rural southerner - succeeding in law school, falling in love & becoming a father, making career & family moves, losing his wife in an accident & raising a teenage daughter alone, navigating friendship with a Black colleague/friend in backwater Virginia, etc. The fictional biography is loosely constructed around the prosecution of Mason - fuelled by unscrupulous businessmen - for a murder committed by his good-for-nothing criminal brother, but it was a generally uncaptivating plot. Clark writes well and packs the tale exhaustively with detail to make it extremely realistic. It's a good - if forgettable - narrative.

As to presentation: Reader Ed Sala exhibits a slightly sibilant cadence and a nasal timbre more suitable for Zane Grey/Louis L'Amour novels than for this project. Don't get me wrong, Sala is a creditable narrator.. this project was simply miscast.

Altogether, I rate 'The Legal Limit' 7.5 stars out of 10. It was a fine find on the 'Plus' menu - even worth a Credit when they ask for one. It's a very well-written tale. I will be looking for more from this author.

Meticulously Conducted Story
