Annoying but fine enough

A few friends said they really liked this book a lot, but they read it. I think the audio book doesn’t do the story and characters justice. It’s just very hard for one male voice actor to properly voice so many characters, several female, who are supposed to be young, naive and a bit annoying. Every character sounded like a joke and it felt grating. I wonder if it would have been better in a non-audio version.
