One hundred years ago a little boy was pulled out of school to help his father fish for lobsters off the coast of Louisbourg, Nova Scotia. All goes well, until he falls overboard and experiences a new friendship that leaves his small community speechless.

The Mola Mola has the unique perspective of being thoroughly tested on students from grade primary (kindergarten) to grade six. Countless elementary-age children have grown to love this beautifully written story and enthusiastically request its telling time and time again, whenever the author visits their classroom. What a sweet story. I enjoyed sharing it with my son who knows the author. It was nice being able to have him visualize and understand more about the process that many fishers experience in the waters along the coast of NS. I’ll enjoy sharing this story with my students as well. I can’t wait to see what their Mola Mola will look like.
