Description

Campaign for Literacy

Lucy was offered a job with her cousin Cora Wilson Stewart in the mountains of Kentucky. It turned out to be much more than she bargained for since Cora was bound and determined to get the adults of Rowan County an education. She fought for literacy tooth and nail and won triumphantly. This book was both fact and fiction. Cora was a real person who was a leader in her day and strong promoter of literacy to improve the mountain peoples lives. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
