À propos de cet audio

A candid guide for ambitious women who want to succeed without losing themselves in the process

In The Myth of the Nice Girl, Fran Hauser deconstructs the negative perception of "niceness" that many women struggle with in the business world. If women are nice, they are seen as weak and ineffective, but if they are tough, they are labeled a bitch.

Hauser proves that women don't have to sacrifice their values or hide their authentic personalities to be successful. Sharing a wealth of personal anecdotes and time-tested strategies, she shows women how to reclaim "nice" and sidestep regressive stereotypes about what a strong leader looks like. Her accessible advice and hard-won wisdom detail how to balance being empathetic with being decisive, how to rise above the double standards that can box you in, how to cultivate authentic confidence that projects throughout a room, and much more.

The Myth of the Nice Girl is a refreshing dose of forward-looking feminism that will resonate with smart, professional women who know what they want and are looking for real advice to take their careers to the next level without losing themselves in the process.

I just finished listening to this book. It really resonated with me. I was so impressed with how relevant Fran's content is especially in today’s world. I believe that women in leadership roles is an essential part of business and in major corporations. Being able to perform in a way that it authentic to our being makes a huge difference. If that means leading with kindness or compassion even better. I believe that there is space out there for everyone and I also believe that in order to evolve we need to embrace a more diverse workforce at all levels, especially at the top. Fran Hauser is a great role model of making it to the top on her own terms. A must read!

Being Nice is Cool

This book is for every girl who feels like they have to change who they are in order to make it in business.
Fran provides thoughtful examples of how you can remain who you are, but still get what you want.
Unfortunately in the world we live in being nice is perceived as weakness. Fran dispels this myth with kindness and assertiveness. Definitely on my lists of favourite reads!

You can be nice and make it in the business world

There are a lot of things I gained from this book but it is probably a better book for someone who is not self employed. A lot of it refers to climbing the corporate ladder and negotiating job opportunities. Still a good read.

Would recommend, not ideal for someone self employed

Especially professional women. There is so more much to this book than the title. I am grateful to the author for openly sharing her experience and expertise in the book.

Excellent management advice for anyone...

I very much enjoyed this book. As a young professional woman in a position of moderate authority, I have been searching for tips to help get people to take me seriously without coming across as overly aggressive, which was my default reaction before I read this. Fran does a great job of giving scenarios and examples, and I've taken away a lot from this book that I have already successfully put into practice in the workplace. Thanks, Fran!

A must-have for young professional women
