I randomly chose to download this book because I had credits to spend. The next I knew I was being pulled down the rabbit hole into a world of Asian Folklore, forbidden love and shrivelled body parts. READ IT! You'll thank yourself.

A Very Satisfying Story and Beautiful Narration
A perfect summer book, wonderfully narrated by the author herself. I rarely enjoy a book read by the author unless it's a celebrity author and the book is clearly an autobiography. But in this case, Ms. Choo has the perfect lilting English cadence to capture the world of her characters and the magic surrealism of their dream world. Recommended listen and looking forward to reading more of her books!

Loved it!
The narrator/author has such a beautiful voice and accent, I would listen again just for that. The story keeps you engaged, has a really good mix of real and surreal, and actually ended up being more mysterious/suspenseful than I was expecting, which was an added bonus. I fished it also feeling like I learned a bit more about the history, culture, and beliefs of a part of the world I know very little about, which I love.
I recommend it to anyone who likes ghost stories (not terrifying, but a little creepy and mysterious) and history.

An exotic mystery!
The story took me a little while to get into, but it was worth the wait! I have never heard a story quite like this and I couldn’t stop listening to the last 3rd! Narrated by the author, I found her voice soothing and easy to listen to.
